Recently, Counterpoint announced an analysis of shipments to the global PC market in the fourth quarter of 2021. It mentions the overall market performance, and the specific manufacturer shipment ranking.
The report mentions that global PC shipments reached 90.3 million units in the fourth quarter of 2021, maintaining a year-on-year growth momentum of 3.1%. Shipment forecasts for the first quarter of 2022 remain positive, mainly due to strong demand and improved parts supply.
In terms of specific manufacturer shipment performance, Lenovo still occupies the first place, with shipments reaching 21.7 million units. Although shipments decreased by 3% year-on-year, they still led the global PC market with a 24% share.
HP's shipments increased 1% year-over-year to 18.5 million, ranking second in the global PC market with a 20.5% share, while Dell ranked in the top three with 15% year-over-year growth, bringing shipments to 17.2 million and a market share of 19%.
Apple ranked fourth, with shipments down 1% year-on-year, basically unchanged, and became the fourth place in the global PC market with a market share of 8%.
According to the information mentioned in the analysis report, Lenovo continues to occupy a significant position in the PC market; Dell has benefited from the strong momentum of commercial/high-end products, achieving the largest year-on-year increase in products; and Apple has maintained shipments close to the same period last year due to the success of its MacBook series.
In addition, market research institutes Canalys and IDC have also previously announced the shipments of the PC market in the fourth quarter and full year of 2021.
According to Canalys, Lenovo ranked first in the PC market with 21.7 million units in the fourth quarter of last year, and although it fell 6.5% year-on-year, it still ranked first in the full-year ranking.
HP ranked second in both the fourth quarter and the full year, with 18.7 million shipments in the fourth quarter, reaching 74.1 million for the whole year; Dell ranked third, with 17.2 million units shipped in the fourth quarter, achieving 59.3 million units for the whole year; Apple ranked fourth, with 6.58 million units shipped in the fourth quarter, reaching 28.95 million units for the whole year.
IDC's data also shows close ranking information, that is, Lenovo ranks first, HP ranks second, Dell ranks third, and Apple ranks fourth.
On the whole, several data reports give roughly close brand shipment rankings.
