The AMD Ryzen™ 6000 Series is DP 2.0 UHBR certified

IT House May 10 news that the Video Electronics Standards Institute (VESA) announced on May 9 that DisplayPort 2.0 supports some devices for DisplayPort UHBR.

There are three certified manufacturers: AMD, MediaTek and Realtek, while the AMD 6000 Series Ryzen™ is the only PC processor certified, which means that this is also one of the earliest devices that ordinary users can buy to support DP 2.0 UHBR.

The theoretical bandwidth of DP2.0 UHBR (Ultra High Bit Rate) comes to a staggering 80Gbps, which is twice the bandwidth of Raiden 4, which means that it can support uncompressed 8K 60 Hz HDR, 4K 240Hz HDR, 2 x 4K 120Hz HDR, and even 4 x 4K 60Hz HDR with a single cable. In view of the operation before HDMI 2.1 and the amazing transmission speed of DP2.0, VESA has set up a DisplayPort Authorized Test Center (ATC) to exclusively certify devices that support DP2.0.

IT House learned that UHBR 10 has a raw bandwidth of 40 Gbps and an effective bandwidth of 38.69 Gbps. The bandwidth of UHBR 13.5 and UHBR 20 is larger, reaching the original bandwidth of 54Gbps and 80Gbps, and the effective bandwidth is 52.22Gbps and 77.37Gbps respectively, so the bandwidth can only be ultra-short distance data transmission if the passive cable is used, and a little longer requires the active cable, that is, the corresponding hardware such as the amplification chip needs to be added to the data line.

Today, DP2.0 has also launched extremely strict device certification, which will greatly improve the consumer purchase experience and avoid falling into the trap of SIMILAR TO USB interface and HDMI2.1.
