Starting in 2022, the Volkswagen ID.4 sold in the U.S. will be equipped with a more powerful 135kW in-car charger, while the range will also increase. Volkswagen said that the basic cruising range of the new version of the ID.4 will exceed 418km, while the current US version of the Volkswagen ID.4 entry version has a cruising range of about 402km to 418km.
In addition, the new models will also be upgraded in the interior part, so the price has also increased by 765 US dollars (about 4878 yuan). At present, the Volkswagen ID.4 Pro is priced at $41,995 in the United States, which is about 267,800 yuan, and the ID.4 Pro S version with the top all-wheel drive is priced at $50,135, or about 319,700 yuan.
Later this year, Volkswagen will also launch an OTA update for the US ID.4, optimizing the automatic parking function and plug-in-charging system. Volkswagen said the plug-in-charging system upgrade will allow ID.4 to be better replenished through Electrify America's charging network.
As for the 2023 ID.4, it is reported that the version will be mass-produced in the second or third quarter of 2022 at the Chatanooga plant in Tennessee, USA. At that time, Volkswagen will replace the battery supplier for the US version of the ID.4, from LG to SK. In addition, the 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 will be equipped with an "American" style center console in the US market, and an entry-level version with a further reduced price will be introduced.
