The punishment of "cooking" first occurred in the Shang Dynasty, during the reign of the King of Shang, the Shang Dynasty was stronger than the Zhou Dynasty, and the "Chronicle of Justice" quoted in the "Imperial Century" records that after The King of Zhou Wen Ji Chang was imprisoned by the King of Shang, his eldest son Bo Yi Kao was a hostage in the Shang Dynasty, and his status was very low, and the King of Zhou tried everything to tease King Wen of Zhou, and once he even "cooked" Boyikao and pretended to give it to King Wen of Zhou to eat.

This person was a man of the State of Qi in the Warring States period, and his medical skills were very clever, and the "Spring and Autumn of the Lü Dynasty" recorded that King Min of Qi was tortured by sores, and when he heard that Wen Zhi was a famous doctor, he sent someone to invite Wen Zhi to heal himself, and after Wen Zhi diagnosed it, he said to the prince: "The illness of the great king can be cured, but after the great king is cured, he will undoubtedly kill me." ”
The prince asked the reason, it turned out that this disease needed to anger the king to be cured, so the prince swore to Wen Zhi: "As long as I can cure my father's illness, my mother and I will plead with my father and king with death to save your life." Therefore, Wen Zhi made King Qi Min angry, and as a result, King Qi Min's illness was cured, but Wen Zhi was still killed.
The historian only dared to record that he died because he annoyed King Qi Min, but he did not dare to record that King Qi Min had punished King Qi Min for "cooking", and the prince and queen did try their best to intercede for Wen Zhi, but King Qi Min still wanted to put Wen Zhi to death and "cook" Wen Zhi, and if Wen Zhi was still alive, I am afraid that he would leave behind a lot of valuable medical works.
