Bo Yi kao's life
For Boyikao, most people know about it through the plot of the "List of Fengshen Gods": in the "List of Fengshen Gods", the King of Shangxi was jealous of the princes of the four directions, so he deceived the four uncles of the east, west, south, and north to the chaoge, and then prepared to kill them: the Northern Bohou was spared due to his treachery; the Xibo Marquis Jichang, because of his virtuous name, was imprisoned by the King of Shang, and the Eastern Bohou and the Southern Bohou were not so lucky, and they were both killed by the Shangyi King.
Ji Chang's eldest son Bo Yi Kao saw that Ji Chang had been detained by the King of Shang for a long time, so he went to Chaoge with some treasures and prepared to redeem Ji Chang from the King of Shang, but instead of redeeming Ji Chang, Bo Yi Kao was killed by the King of Shang. Later, when Jiang Ziya was crowned a god, he crowned Boyikao as the Ziwei Emperor - a god responsible for controlling the kings and dynasties.
Bo Yikao's younger brother Ji Fa became Zhou Tianzi after the destruction of Yin Shang, but Zhou Tianzi, who had only a few decades of life, was undoubtedly more suitable for being a god than Bo Yikao, who had become a god.
Historically, Bo Yikao's deeds are roughly consistent with the myths, and they were also killed by King Shang in order to rescue King Wen of Zhou.
However, many people do not understand: why is the name of the same son of Ji Chang, Bo Yi kao and Ji Fa so different?
Regarding the name of Bo Yi Kao, it is generally believed that this is a title with complex components, rather than the real name.
More than eight hundred years after the fall of yin shang, a man named Liu Ji established the Han Dynasty. After Liu Ji became emperor, he gave himself a new name: Liu Bang. However, Sima Qian still frequently used the title of Liu Ji in the "Records of History".
Liu Ji's father, emperor Taishang of the Han Dynasty, also had a very interesting name, called Liu Taigong. In fact, the name Liu Taigong, translated into modern Chinese, can be understood as the old man of the Liu family, and Liu Ji can be understood as Liu San'er—that is, as a poor person, sometimes there are only nicknames and no names.
In ancient Chinese, Bo represented the boss and Zhong represented the second.
The word Bo of Boyikao can be understood as the eldest son, that is, the eldest son, Yikao. By analogy, Ji Fa's name can be called Zhongfa if it follows this format.
There are two interpretations, the first of which is that eup is the name of a position. It means that Bo Yi kao held an official position, and another interpretation is that Yi means that he is the heir. The Zhou people practiced the system of primogeniture, and Bo Yikao, as the eldest son of Ji Chang, had the right to inherit the monarch of the Zhou state.
In both interpretations, the individual prefers the latter: because only the heirs of the Zhou Kingdom, to meet the Shang Dynasty Tianzi, are barely justified in terms of specifications (in the absence of the monarch, the heir oversees the country and performs the monarch's duties).
From this point of view, Bo Yi Kao's real name is Ji Kao, Bo He Yi, which is only a description of his identity.
