After 27 years of reform, Huang Wei wanted to go to Taiwan to visit Chiang Kai-shek's grave after the pardon, but he fell ill and died on the eve of departure

In January 1989, the 85-year-old Huang Wei went to Hong Kong again, which had not yet been returned, and there was a mixture of forces from all sides, including Kuomintang agents.

Huang Wei met many deceased people during his trip, but he did not want to invest in Taiwan, but hoped to use his special status to make some contributions to the great cause of national reunification. He patiently recounted the process of his transformation and the policies of the Communist Party, hoping that his old friends would return to the embrace of the motherland as soon as possible.

Nothing can be more vivid than Huang Wei's own experience, because even if he is particularly resistant to reform and does not cooperate with management, the Communist Party still does not scold or torture him, but in many ways gives him enough care, treats those who are sick, and can ask for anything at any time. So generous and so humane, the audience was overwhelmed with emotion.

In addition to meeting many old friends on this trip, Huang Wei also had a special harvest - the Taiwan side invited him to visit. This made him very happy, and immediately after receiving the news, he made a plan, and Luo made a list, in addition to going to see the old huangpu classmates, but also to visit the graves of Chiang Kai-shek, Chen Cheng, and others.

However, there is a saying called "Happy And Sad", Huang Wei prepared everything almost, was preparing to leave, suddenly had a heart attack, and finally left with regrets.

After Huang Wei's death, both sides of the strait held a solemn farewell ceremony for him, which was an extremely rare treatment. But when you know his life, you will find that it is not strange to have this treatment.

After 27 years of reform, Huang Wei wanted to go to Taiwan to visit Chiang Kai-shek's grave after the pardon, but he fell ill and died on the eve of departure

In the Kuomintang camp, Huang Wei was a very unique existence, he was paranoid, admitting to death, extremely loyal to Chiang Kai-shek, and fighting a war was enough to use his life, so in 1938 he served as the commander of the 18th Army, the main force of the Kuomintang.

He was a first-term student of Huangpu and a die-hard loyalist of chiang kai-shek, and he had a definite future according to the reason, but he lost his military power in 1943. The reason he lost his military power was not that he did not fight well, but that he was burdened by factional struggles.

Earlier, He Yingqin was the second man in the Central Army, but in the Xi'an Incident, He Yingqin wanted to solve it by force and put Chiang Kai-shek in danger, so he gradually lost the trust of old Chiang Kai-shek. After that, the second person became Chen Cheng.

Chen Cheng was very domineering, relying on Chiang Kai-shek's weight to support many "civil engineering" generals to hold important positions, so naturally squeezed into the living space of other factions, and many people united with He Yingqin to oppose Chen Cheng.

These people could not move Chen Cheng, so they tried their best to cut off Chen Cheng's wings, and Huang Wei served as the commander of the 18th Army and was an important general of the civil engineering department, so he was unfortunately recruited.

During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, in order to cut off British and American support for China and thus force China to surrender, the Japanese invaded the Indochina Peninsula, while the Japanese also gathered heavy troops on the Chinese border and threatened the Great Southwest Region.

Under such circumstances, Huang Wei was transferred to the commander of the 54th Army, although the 54th Army was not the top combat effectiveness in the Central Army, but it was also a strong force.

However, the 54th Army belonged to the 9th Group Army, and guan Linzheng, commander-in-chief of the Group Army, was also a first-term student of Huangpu, but his relationship with the civil engineering department was extremely poor, so he did not care about the friendship of the same window at all, and has been squeezing and suppressing Huang Wei, which makes Huang Wei extremely depressed.

Later, in 1943, He Yingqin submitted the collected materials to Chiang Kai-shek, accusing Huang Wei of eating empty pay, and those forces that had a vendetta against Chen Cheng followed up with the accusations, and for a while there was a bit of a big fuss, and Chiang Kai-shek had no choice but to transfer Huang Wei to his post.

In fact, the phenomenon of eating empty pay in the Kuomintang is very common, and old Chiang Kai also turned a blind eye, not to mention that Huang Wei ate empty pay to subsidize the military and did not use it on himself. However, his civil engineering department has offended too many people.

For many years after that, Huang Wei has been training soldiers and running military schools in the rear, and it is interesting that he is not at all unhappy about losing his military power, but he likes his later work very much.

Until the end of the Liberation War, Huang Wei finally took charge of the twelfth corps again, and the funny thing is that this opportunity also came from factional struggle, and Huang Wei was reluctant to take office at first.

In early August 1948, in order to ensure the security of central China, the Kuomintang formed the Twelve Corps, the backbone of which was the 18th Army, and Initially Chen Cheng recommended Hu Lian to be the commander of the Corps.

However, the corps belonged to the central China "Suppression General" battle sequence, and Bai Chongxi, the commander-in-chief of the "Suppression General", resolutely disagreed, He Yingqin also stood up and expressed his opposition, and Bai and He hoped that the commander of the corps would let Luo Guangwen take the post.

All sides have been arguing and not giving in to each other, and seeing that the war is getting closer and closer, Chiang Kai-shek had no choice but to think of a compromise method and carried out Huang Wei, an old commander of the 18th Army.

Huang Wei was busy in Wuhan at that time for the new officer school, and he had no interest in leading soldiers, so after receiving a telegram from Chiang Kai-shek to "come out and lead the troops to fight, don't do the military academy first", he called back and said, "I don't want to do it." Angry Chiang Kai-shek in the office you broke the mouth and scolded.

Or Chen Cheng clearly told Huang Wei: "The commander of the Twelfth Corps is none other than you, this is the order." Huang Wei reluctantly went to Nanjing to take up his post, but when he met Chiang Kai-shek, he said: "Principal, after fighting this battle, I still want to go back to run a military academy!" ”

At such a crucial moment, such an important candidate, it is still not meritocracy, it is still falling in love with each other, and the KmT has been unjustly defeated.

After 27 years of reform, Huang Wei wanted to go to Taiwan to visit Chiang Kai-shek's grave after the pardon, but he fell ill and died on the eve of departure

Huang Wei, the commander of the corps, did not last long, and in the Battle of Huaihai, he was surrounded by the People's Liberation Army in a double pile, and at the critical moment of the breakthrough, Huang Wei and Hu Lian, deputy commander of the corps, each fled in a tank. In the end, Hu Lian managed to escape, while Huang Wei was captured due to a tank failure.

However, Hu Lian also revealed a detail that he could escape: when the breakthrough was made, our cars were full of people, and when I saw such chaos, I swept away the people with machine guns, and Pei I (Huang Wei's word) was too soft-hearted, he didn't do it, how could he get out?

Initially, the Kuomintang did not know about Huang Wei's situation, but when they saw that he had not come out, they unilaterally announced that he had died, and this news was like the sky had collapsed for Huang Wei's wife, Cai Ruoshu.

Cai Ruoshu was born in everyone, her appearance was outstanding, she and Huang Wei were free love, the relationship was very good, a few months ago her husband told her that he would come back not long ago, and as a result, she waited for his death notice at this moment, and she could not accept it at all.

Perhaps with a sense of guilt, Chiang Kai-shek took the families of these "fallen" generals with him when he withdrew to Taiwan, so Cai Ruoshu took his four children and crossed the sea in a daze.

However, Cai Ruoshu believed in his heart that her husband was not dead, and after a few months found an opportunity to smuggle himself to Hong Kong, and then returned to the mainland to inquire about her husband.

After 27 years of reform, Huang Wei wanted to go to Taiwan to visit Chiang Kai-shek's grave after the pardon, but he fell ill and died on the eve of departure

Huang Wei is not clear about his wife's obsession, he just wants to be his loyal servant. The correctional staff in the Gongdelin commented that Huang Wei never thought that he had done anything wrong, and the only fault was to be defeated.

With this mentality, Huang Wei's various behaviors can be explained; not only does he not study on his own, but he often sneers at those who are active in reform; when someone in the ideological class accuses Chiang Kai-shek, he will raise the bar; some regulations in the Gongdelin he will criticize if he is not comfortable, and so on.

All these behaviors left the impression of "refusing to reform" in the minds of the correctional personnel, compared with Du Yuming, another close confidant of Chiang Kai-shek, who was much better. Du Yuming was deeply touched after reading Chairman Mao's "On Protracted War" and wrote down more than 10,000 words of notes, which he also intended to send to Chiang Kai-shek, but Huang Wei did not move a word. With such an attitude, it is no wonder that the last batch of amnesties will be granted.

In 1956, Huang Wei was allowed to meet his family, nearly 8 years after the separation of that year. Cai Ruoshu came to visit with her eldest daughter Huang Minnan, whose original intention was to hope that Huang Wei would not indulge in the foolishness of the past and start a new life, but Huang Wei was not willing to change.

Huang Minnan later recalled: His father was still in a very good mental state, he walked with a straight waist, but it could be seen that he was very weak. On that occasion, I wanted to cry, but he was a war criminal, so I felt that I should take a firm stand, so I advised him to reform well, and my mother mainly advised him to reform well, and told him that you should think about the family, and there should be some changes, that is not necessarily against your heart, but you should at least have an accepting attitude, but your father does not accept it at all.

Huang Wei's non-acceptance, let his wife Cai Ruoshu suffer a lot, since Huang Wei was captured, she alone to take on the life of four children, she first found a copy registration position in the street office, and then was admitted to the Shanghai library to work, with a stable salary.

Moreover, Premier Zhou nian gave Huang Wei's family some care for Huang Wei's family because he was a student of Huangpu, so Cai Ruoshu could still support a family with difficulty.

In 1959, when New China first pardoned, Premier Zhou had already written Huang Wei's name on the amnesty list, and Beijing also informed Cai Ruoshu, who works in the Shanghai library, to prepare to take her husband home.

However, after seeing the list, the Gongdelin Management Office resolutely opposed it, believing that his stubborn thinking had not been reformed at all, so Huang Wei's name was crossed out. Huang Wei also mentioned this matter later, saying:

Later, I learned that my name was on the (first) amnesty list, and at that time I was notified that my eldest daughter, Huang Minnan, would come and pick me up. However, this matter was resisted by the war criminals management center, who said that I had not reformed well, did not meet the conditions of "really changing evil and practicing good", and if I pardoned, other war criminals would certainly not be convinced. This was also the case, and I thought about it carefully, and it was right not to let me go at that time.

It was just that Cai Ruoshu did not know all this, and on the day of the amnesty, she had listened to the radio with joy, but she did not hear her husband's name until the end, and 11 years of waiting had exhausted her, and the great compassion after this great joy caused her a great impact.

After several amnesties, Huang Wei was not among them, Cai Ruoshu was tortured by this aimless waiting and had very serious mental problems, and for decades, Cai Ruoshu was maintained by drugs, which led to severe hallucinations and insomnia.

She once took a lot of sleeping pills to try to commit suicide, but fortunately, her colleagues came back in time. If it weren't for the support of her husband's thoughts, perhaps she would have died a long time ago.

Unfortunately, she wanted her husband to come out so much, but Huang Wei himself did not have the slightest idea, and he focused on studying perpetual motion machines to escape transformation.

At that time, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and his daughter had clearly told him that perpetual motion machines could not be successfully studied, but Huang Wei did not believe it. The matter was finally reported to Premier Zhou, who did not express his attitude, but only gave instructions on the four words "can be studied", so Gong Delin also cooperated.

In fact, Huang Wei's attitude towards the CCP has also changed, when he first entered Gongdelin, he suffered from tuberculosis, peritoneal tuberculosis and other diseases, and when he was serious, the whole person was so puffy that he could not walk on the ground. The Gongdelin Management Office found experts to consult him, and because some special drugs could not be produced in the mainland, Premier Zhou also went to Hong Kong for special approval to buy them.

After four years of arduous medical treatment, Huang Wei's illness was cured, people's hearts are all flesh, the Communist Party is good to him, Huang Wei also knows, so later at the experience meeting, others attacked Chiang Kai-shek and the Kuomintang, he no longer refuted, just silence.

After 27 years of reform, Huang Wei wanted to go to Taiwan to visit Chiang Kai-shek's grave after the pardon, but he fell ill and died on the eve of departure

In 1965, Gong Delin organized a trip, Huang Wei and others went to changchun, Shanghai, Hangzhou and other places together, the earth-shaking changes in New China brought a great impact to these former Kuomintang generals, Huang Weidu sighed: What the Kuomintang wanted to do but did not do before, now the Communist Party has done, and it has done very well.

Seeing is believing, the Communist Party has brought new life to the country and let the people live a good life, and Huang Wei's attitude has gradually become objective. On January 29, 1973, he wrote to his wife:

"Ruo Shu: I am now beginning to study the glorious document of the Communist Manifesto, and I want to buy the reference material "Outline and Notes on the Communist Manifesto", which is priced at only one dime and six cents.

With this shift, Huang Wei was eventually pardoned in 1975, when he had been reformed for 27 years. Cai Ruoshu originally thought that life would be better from now on, but he did not expect that Huang Wei was still very persistent about perpetual motion machines, if at the beginning it was to escape transformation, what else to study now that he has regained his freedom?

Cai Ruoshu was very confused in her heart, so she chose to commit suicide by throwing herself into the river at noon, only a year after her reunion with her husband. Huang Wei's concern for his family was too little and he did not see his wife's abnormality, and when he heard that his wife jumped into the river, he immediately jumped down, but it was already too late, and he also had a serious illness.

According to Huang Wei's son-in-law, the old man shed tears in the hospital at that time, feeling that he had owed too much in this life and made up too little.

After 27 years of reform, Huang Wei wanted to go to Taiwan to visit Chiang Kai-shek's grave after the pardon, but he fell ill and died on the eve of departure

After Huang Wei came out of Gongdelin, Premier Zhou let these people serve as the cultural and historical commissioners of the CppcC National Committee, write some historical materials, and have a certain monthly allowance, so there is not much problem in life.

It's just that he always had a wish in his heart, to make some contributions to the reunification of the country while he is still alive. When he went to Hong Kong, he was approached by people from the Kuomintang side, who wanted him to go to Taiwan and promised to pay him a re-salary for 27 years. According to the Nationalist Army's Feng Lu that year, Huang Wei could probably receive more than 300,000 US dollars at a time, which was by no means a small amount at the beginning.

But Huang Wei refused, saying: The Communist Party has been kind to me, first, it did not kill me, and second, I took good care of my family, and my children were also educated. Principal Jiang has the grace of knowing me, but the Communist Party also treats me poorly, and I will not go to the third place.

He was actually interesting enough for Old Jiang, he hadn't said a bad word for so many years, and later his evaluation was: The principal is a hero, but his set is outdated, so it failed.

Huang Wei also wants to go to Taiwan, one is to meet old friends, the second is to visit the graves of the deceased, and the third is to work for cross-strait reconciliation. He could use his own experience to tell the Kuomintang people who were watching how well the Communist Party's policies were treated.

Both sides of the strait agreed at that time, but on the eve of his trip, he suddenly fell ill and left this world with regret.

Putting aside the camp, in fact, many Huangpu students are still very patriotic, although they have taken the wrong road for a while, but later they all hope that the two sides of the strait can be reunified, and this wish, all the Chinese are looking forward to it, looking forward to an early realization!
