There are many generals in our army who are also famous in history for annihilating the main ace force of the Kuomintang, and the founding major general He Yixiang is one of them.
Annihilate the Jiang family's ace first rapid column
On New Year's Day 1947, Chiang Kai-shek did not seem to feel new hope because of the arrival of the New Year, the War of Liberation was in full swing, and the news of the collapse of the Nationalist army flew into his office like snowflakes.
On the morning of the 4th, Jiang Weiguo frowned and wandered at Chiang Kai-shek's door with a telegram, not knowing how to report this defeat to Chiang Kai-shek.
But the stakes were so high that he pushed open Chiang Kai-shek's door and handed the telegram to Chiang Kai-shek in a depressed manner.
When Chiang Kai-shek saw the content of the first rapid column being completely annihilated by the People's Liberation Army, he was silent for half a day without speaking, and Jiang Weiguo stood to the side and wept.
There is a reason why Jiang Weiguo is crying, and this unit is painstakingly managed by him.
Shortly after the end of the War of Resistance Against Japan, Chiang Weiguo suggested to Chiang Kai-shek that victories must be won at a speed in the future battlefield, and he suggested to Chiang Kai-shek that the armored troops throughout the country should be organized into 10 rapid columns, and the most advanced ironclad fighting vehicles and tanks should be brought in to play a surprise surprise role on the battlefield.
Chiang Kai-shek was very sympathetic to Chiang Wei-kuo's proposal, and the first rapid column was quickly formed, fully mechanized, with all kinds of chariots, artillery, and tanks, and the total strength reached 10,000 people.
Just last month, the first rapid column was stationed and occupied Zaozhuang, and he and his wife also brought a large amount of condolence materials to comfort. However, no one expected that the First Rapid Column would be completely annihilated by the People's Liberation Army less than four months after it was put into the battlefield, which was really demoralizing.
The People's Liberation Army over there was cleaning up the battlefield, And Chen Yi climbed into a tank with great interest, took a black-and-white photo of himself sitting on top of the roof, and improvised a poem "Lunan Victory": The rapid column flew like a fly, India and Burma returned from the advocacy, Lunan mud could not be walked, and the tank became a scrap iron pile.
At the same time, our army quickly launched the work of the captured personnel of the first rapid column, calling on everyone to have a clear understanding of the situation and throw themselves into the embrace of the people.
Together with the captured 24 tanks, 475 vehicles of various kinds, and various heavy artillery and howitzers, our army soon established the first mechanized unit: the special forces of the Central China Field Army.
So, who led the troops to eat the first rapid column? He was He Yixiang, commander of the Eighth Division of the Shandong Military Region.
After the Launch of the Lunan Campaign, in order to eat this fast column, Chen Yi specifically found He Yixiang and discussed with him the way to eat the fast column.
He Yixiang specially applied for 1,500 kilograms of explosives from Chen Yi, and specially practiced the tactics of fighting tanks day and night, and Chen Yi also asked all units to closely cooperate with the Eighth Division in fighting the encirclement and annihilation war, and finally drove the first rapid column into the leaky lake in Yixian County, and the tanks drove into the swamp, unable to move, and could only obediently capture.

He Yixiang, a native of Ruijin, Jiangxi, joined the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army in 1930 and joined the Party in 1933. Speaking of He Yixiang's experience, it is still a little special.
Before joining the Red Army, he was a soldier in the Yang Sen unit of the Sichuan Army. Later, his unit was absorbed by He Long's troops, joined the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army, and became a real Red Army soldier.
In his later years, He Yixiang once told his comrades-in-arms that I was a soldier in the warlord army, and if it were not for The troops of Elder He who took me in, I would have had a new life. And what made me firmly follow the Red Army for a lifetime was a small thing that made me sick.
Soon after I joined the Red Army, I had severe typhoid fever, my hair was all gone, I was dying, and I was almost out of breath. However, the Red Army did not abandon me, and the comrades carried me on stretchers all the way, and I was a little too unwilling to go, so I asked the instructor to leave me alone.
But the instructor said to his comrades-in-arms, "The Red Army cannot leave a single man behind. "Then, he arranged for someone to take the best medicine and find the best doctor to see me, and he pulled me back from the death line, if I had been in the Sichuan Army, I would have died a long time ago."
Therefore, I really got a new life when I got the Red Army, and I had to fight for the Red Army.
He Yixiang repaid the Red Army with a brave charge and used countless times of life and death to temper his fighting quality.
Attacking the city of Soap, he jumped out of the trench at a critical moment, took the lead in rushing towards the enemy, was pierced by a bullet in the neck, walked through the ghost gate again, and was promoted to squad leader after being wounded.
During the battle of Wamiaoji, he picked up the explosives package at a critical moment, braved the enemy's gunfire and bullets to rush forward, his arm was broken, and his abdomen was exploded, but finally he cleared the last obstacle on the charging road.
After He Long saw the war report, he directly instructed the political work department to promote He Yixiang to platoon leader.
When the company commander charged with people in that battle, the calf bone was pierced by the bullet, and he lay on the ground and continued to command the charge.
Therefore, every step of his growth had a test of life and death, and among them, Marshal He Long personally gave him a commendation order twice.
He Long said to his subordinates more than once: "Don't look at why Yixiang is now a company-level cadre, just by virtue of his brave and fierce strength, he will certainly be able to take on great responsibilities in the future, and he is a hard-bone cadre who can be assured." "At the end of the Long March, He Yixiang was already a regiment-level cadre.
In early March 1948, He Yixiang was appointed commander of the 3rd Column of the 3rd Corps.
One day in mid-July, He Yixiang suddenly received a telegram from Chen Yi, which was signed by three people: Zhou Enlai, Liu Shaoqi, and Zhu De.
Originally, Chen Yi, then commander of the East China Field Army, and Su Yu, deputy commander of the East China Field Army, jointly recommended He Yixiang to the Central Military Commission, saying that he was a hard bone and was good at fighting tough battles.
Later, his experience was promoted to the whole army under the impetus of Mr. Zhu.
During the Liberation War during the Red Army period, the troops led by He Yixiang were the most capable of attacking strong points and being able to explode in Huaye, and everyone in the unit could bundle explosives and everyone had the trick of blasting.
As a division commander, he led people to attack Fujian County, and in only 5 minutes he blew up the east gate, and after a night of street fighting, he annihilated 7,000 enemy troops. Attacking the county seat of Yi County, it took only 10 minutes to blast into the city, annihilating 8500 enemy troops, almost winning the battle, and was known as "the little tiger in Chen Yi's sleeve".
The annihilation of the reorganized 74th Division was a great achievement
As everyone knows, in the Battle of Menglianggu, the Reorganized Seventy-fourth Division of the Kuomintang was wiped out and Zhang Lingfu was killed, which became a brilliant stroke in the history of our army's warfare.
On many historical materials, there are many viewpoints that analyze that at that time, the Kuomintang troops were scattered and fighting for each other, all in order to preserve their own strength, they were unwilling to send troops to save him.
Of course, there must be such a reason for this. However, it is recorded through practical research and military history data.
In fact, at that time, many Kuomintang troops were reinforced, and the speed of dispatching troops was not slow, and they were all dispatched by the whole division, but our army attacked and occupied too quickly, and they did not catch up.
Among these reinforcements, the closest to Zhang Lingfu was Hu Lian's reorganized 11th Division.
In order to rescue the reorganized 74th Division, Chiang Kai-shek specially called Hu Lian and said to him: "The whole division immediately dispatched, at all costs, to win time to join the reorganized 74th Division at an early date." ”
When the staff officers told him that Hu Lian's reorganized 11th Division had been dispatched and was about to rush over, Zhang Lingfu was actually moved to cry, as if he had caught a life-saving straw, and said to Hu Lian with a crying voice on the phone: "Brother, the sooner the better, brother depends on you!" ”
Hu Lian did not become Zhang Lingfu's life-saving straw. Because, they didn't rush over.
At this time, the tactics of our army to encircle the points and provide assistance were vividly reflected, and the integrated 11th Division was just intercepted by the troops we were helping, and suffered heavy losses, not only did it fail to save the integrated 74th Division, but also our army ate more than 5,000 people.
So, who blocked the integrated 11th Division? Of course, it is He Yixiang's troops.
At that time, Hu Lian's troops advanced rapidly, and if they were to merge with the integrated 74th Division, the current excellent situation could be reversed.
Su Yu of course knew the importance of stopping the 11th Division, and he went to Huaye's chief of staff, Chen Shiqu, to discuss who would fight the battle.
Almost at the same time, the two pointed out he Yixiang's three verticals. To this end, Chen Shiqu specially came to the Headquarters of the Third Column to convey Su Yu's instructions and requirements, telling him that no matter what the cost, Hu Lian's troops must be stopped, and the victory and defeat will be in one move.
He Yixiang liked to fight hard battles, and Hua Ye's chief trusted him so much that even when the troops were exhausted, they had to complete the task, and he made a military order to Chen Shiqu.
The battle was extremely fierce, and at the critical moment, He Yixiang's reserves were all used up, and he personally took the submachine gun and led the staff officers of the organs into battle, constantly reorganizing the combat strength, and continued to charge forward with two bullets in the arm.
Under his leadership, the troops, like wedges, blocked the middle of the reorganized 74th Division and the 11th Division, and in the end, they forcibly stopped Hu Lian's troops from advancing north of Mengyin, and made a great contribution to the total annihilation of the 74th Division of our army.
Because of the recuperation missed a lot of big battles
Because of his long years of conquest, He Yixiang was too badly injured in battle and had many diseases in his body. The heavy and arduous task of liberating the battlefield tested him every day.
At the beginning of 1948, He Yixiang fainted several times, and he could no longer continue to work, so Hua Ye took into account his physical reality and transferred him from his post as commander of the Third Column and left his post to recuperate in the Central Hospital for a year.
In fact, it was this year that many famous battles in the Liberation War were fought, such as the three major battles and so on.
In particular, he did not participate in several important battles of the East China Field Army.
When he returned from recuperation a year later, the East China Field Army was reorganized into the Third Field Army, because the 3rd Column had been newly added to the commander, he did not return to his post, and finally served as the chief of staff of the 8th Corps, fortunately, he participated in the Battle of crossing the river.
It is worth mentioning that in 1955, when the whole army was awarded a large rank, the commanders of several columns of the original East China Field Army, except for him who was awarded the rank of major general, all the others were ranked lieutenant general or above, and this was also related to the reason why he had rested for a year and missed many major battles, which also became a regret in He Yixiang's life.
After the founding of New China, taking into account He Yixiang's outstanding military achievements, he was still used heavily, serving as chief of staff of the Jinan Military Region, and later went to the Campaign Department of the Military Academy to study.
In 1982, He Yixiang retired from his post as deputy commander of the Nanjing Military Region and commander of the Shanghai Garrison District, retired in 1985, and died in Shanghai in 1994.
