Among the founding major generals of new China, many people know that Zhong Wei and Ding Sheng are the most capable generals, but in addition to them, there are more courageous people than them, this person has long served as the commander of the column, good at fighting tough battles, just because of an illness, let him lose the commander and become the chief of staff, who is he?

Who is this person.
He Yixiang, in his early years as a soldier in the Sichuan Army, under the right opportunity, his superiors were absorbed by He Long, and this unit also began the revolution. During the Red Army period, he had been serving in the Red Second Army under the leadership of Mr. He, and he successively served as a squad leader, platoon leader, and company commander in the Red Third Army, and later after the establishment of the Red Second Army, he served as a battalion commander, regimental chief of staff, and regimental commander. Although his qualifications were not as good as those of He Bingyan and Wang Shangrong, they were not inferior to those of other generals from the Red Second Army, especially during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and Liberation.
During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he successively served in the Eighth Route Army, first as regimental commander and then as chief of staff of the detachment (the detachments were all at the brigade level at that time). Later, he served as the chief of staff of the brigade, the deputy commander of the second-level military region, the deputy director of the staff office of the Shandong Military Region, and the deputy division commander in the 115th Division. It can be said that positions have become very frequent.
During the liberation period, he served as the commander of the division, and later the Shandong Field Army merged with the Central China Field Army to form the East China Field Army, and he served as the commander of the 3rd Column. Many veteran generals Huang Xinting, Wang Shangrong, Liao Hansheng, Yu Qiuli, and other veterans who were still serving under General He at the time of liberation were still only brigade-level cadres. But these later became lieutenant generals.
He Yixiang's outstanding feature is that during the liberation period, he led his troops to fight in urban battles, and they all achieved good results. Just when a major battle was about to be fought, he fell ill and had to go to the rear hospital to recuperate. Because he has rich experience in urban battles, Mr. Zhu and others have listened to his report.
By the time he was well, more than a year later, the position of commander of the column was gone, and he had to serve as the chief of staff of the corps. As a chief of staff, he was the most difficult to achieve results, and in the later stages of the War of Resistance, he seemed somewhat obscure. After liberation, he was rated as a regular army and awarded to major general, and if he could be in the position of front-line commander throughout the liberation war, then the award of lieutenant general should not be a problem.
