In 1934, Duan Suquan, the 18-year-old political commissar of the division, led the troops to break through and "sacrifice", but miraculously returned to the team 3 years later

During the Red Army period, our troops held a grand memorial service, on which the soldiers of the Red Second Army and the Red Sixth Army gathered together and bowed their heads in silence to the photos ahead.

Immersed in the solemn atmosphere, some sensual soldiers even shed tears:

"If it weren't for the cover for us, this division political commissar wouldn't have been so sacrificed!"

When Ren Bi heard this, a trace of pain flashed on his face, and he said: "Yes, he is still so young..." As he spoke, everyone looked at the photo in front of them again, which was printed with a childish but full of vitality.

A general next to him took Ren Bi's words and said solemnly to the officers and men below: "Just because he sacrificed to save us, we must work harder and continue to fight with his legacy!" Do you understand? ”

The generals were infected by his words and shouted: "Fight! fight! ”

However, what these soldiers do not know at this moment is that the protagonist of this memorial service did not sacrifice and magically returned to the team after 3 years.

So, what happened before the Red Ii and Red Sixth Legions? Why do they think the protagonist of the memorial service was sacrificed? Where is the protagonist who is suspected of "sacrifice" at this moment?

The cause of this incident has to start many years ago.

In 1916, the suspected sacrificial commissar of the division, that is

Duan Suquan

Comrade, an ordinary peasant family was born in Chaling, Hunan.

At the call of the revolution, he became an excellent member of the Chinese Communist Youth League in May 1930 and soon after transferred to the Communist Party of China.

After this, Duan Suquan successively served as the director of the Organization Department of the Chaling County CPC Committee, the secretary of the county party committee, and the acting political commissar of the county Red Guard Brigade. In 1932, Duan Suquan led a group of outstanding Young Pioneers to sign up for the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army, and by virtue of his own strength, he was appointed as the chief of the Youth Section of the Political Department of the Red Eighth Army in the Xianggan Soviet District.

In 1933, Duan Suquan was promoted to the post of director of the Propaganda Department of the Political Department of the Xianggan Military Region, and joined the struggle to expand the revolutionary base area of Xianggan and repeatedly opposed the "encirclement and suppression" and the march into the Nanxun Railway.

In August 1934, at the age of 18, Duan Suquan was transferred to the Red Sixth Army as the head of the Propaganda Department of the Political Department, and was assigned to accompany the army to participate in the Western Expedition.

On October 27 of that year, the Red Second Army and the Red Sixth Army successfully met the division in the southeastern waist of Qiandong, and on the second day after the two corps held the meeting of the division, they began to march from the south waist boundary to the northwest.

When the Red Second Army and the Red Sixth Army withdrew from the southern waist, they left the Qiandong Independent Division behind to insist on fighting. The former Qiandong Independent Division was an army developed by Comrade He Bingyan, and after years of grinding layer by layer, it has now been expanded into the main force of the Red Second Army.

The remaining Qiandong Independent Division was provisionally established, and the division commander was Wang Guangguang, the commander of the 53rd Regiment of the Red Sixth Army, and Duan Suquan was the political commissar of the independent division. There were no more than 1,000 soldiers under their command, of whom more than 300 were wounded left behind by the Red Second and Red Sixth Legions. Therefore, this force does not look like a combat unit, but rather like a shelter.

However, it was such a unit that they were given two important tasks: first, to contain tens of thousands of enemies and cover the main force into Hunan Province; second, to remain in the Qiandong region and continue to fight the enemy. However, many cadres and fighters of the Qiandong Independent Division were foreigners who did not understand the local language, which undoubtedly made it more difficult to persist in fighting.

After the Red Second and Red Sixth armies withdrew from the qiandong revolutionary base area, the local warlords, landlord squires, and Kuomintang reactionaries began to launch a fierce attack on the base area.

Releasing their past resentment toward our side, they shouted that "one person is the Red Army, and the whole family will be wiped out", while burning and looting, doing evil deeds, and searching everywhere for patriots who have nothing to do with us.

On 29 October, the day after the two corps withdrew from the southern belt, the Qiandong Independent Division began to take action. They quickly marched west, disguised as the main force, and engaged in fierce battles with tens of thousands of enemies who had come to besiege the Qiandong base area.

With its ferocious way of fighting, the behavior of the Qiandong Independent Division quickly confused the other side.

In 1934, Duan Suquan, the 18-year-old political commissar of the division, led the troops to break through and "sacrifice", but miraculously returned to the team 3 years later

Sichuan and Qian warlords

Mistakenly believing that the troops in front of him were the main force of the Red Army, he immediately began to deploy the battle. Perhaps the morale of the warriors was too high and frightening, and at first the warriors repelled several enemy attacks in succession.

When the Guizhou warlord Wang Jialie heard that his own troops had been hit hard in the southern waist boundary Soviet area, he immediately ordered the troops of the Red Second and Red Sixth Armies to rush back, gather firepower, and launch an attack on the independent division. The Sichuan warlord Liu Xiang also received news that he wanted to annihilate the Qiandong Independent Division. In this way, for a time, the local strength of the siege of the unit was as many as ten regiments.

At that time, the guns of this unit were only less than 400, and the bullets equipped with each gun were only three or five rounds, and many soldiers were holding weapons, even cold weapons, large knives and spears.

However, the soldiers did not feel afraid because of the gap between the enemy and us, and the commanders of the Qiandong Independent Division, after some consideration according to the actual situation, scattered the troops and carried out flexible and mobile guerrilla warfare. The soldiers hid on the lofty mountains of the local area, and when they felt hungry, they picked wild fruits from a few trees, and when they were thirsty, they drank some mountain spring water, and with the help of the power of the mountains, they went everywhere to guerrilla attack the enemy troops entering the mountains.

After a period of arduous fighting, the forward troops received the news that the main force had successfully advanced into western Hunan Province, and after consultation with Wang Guangguang, Duan Suquan, and others, decided to immediately escape from the enemy's encirclement and march toward The Fanjing Mountain in eastern Qiandong, taking advantage of the dangerous terrain of the local area, concealing themselves, and launching a new round of guerrilla warfare with the enemy.

After the Qiandong Independent Division entered Fanjing Mountain, this news was quickly learned by the enemy army, and on November 23, the general of the Qiandong Army led a large army to launch a general attack on the Qiandong Independent Division, and everyone fought a bloody battle for a day. Our army annihilated hundreds of enemies, but it was also seriously damaged and fell into the predicament of running out of ammunition and food, and it was difficult to continue to stay in Fanjing Mountain.

In order to retain our forces, on the evening of the 24th, the commanders of our army decided to lead their generals over the peak of Fanjing Mountain and break through to the north to meet the Red Second and Sixth Red Armies.

The next day, our troops entered the Xiushan area of Sichuan from Songtao County, Guizhou, and began to march towards the ancient town of Meijiang. In this battle, Duan Suquan led several soldiers of the communications squad to the front of the line, and when the troops rushed to the middle street of Meijiangchang, suddenly, the enemy hiding in front of him fired a shot at him. The bullet hit him straight in, and in no time it pierced his ankle bone.

Duan Suquan lost his support on the spot and fell to the ground, unable to move. At this time, the bullets on the street were still flying randomly, and several soldiers saw this scene and hurriedly carried the political commissar off the battlefield.

When they learned that the political commissar was wounded, the soldiers were all red-eyed, and they broke out into a more powerful fighting force, rushed into the block, quickly conquered Meijiang, opened a warehouse to help the people, and left Meijiang Field the next day.

The troops did a good thing for the people, but Duan Suquan was seriously injured, his right ankle had been shattered, and it was impossible to stand up again in a short time, and Wang Guangguang and the guards could only help him to get on his horse and go forward.

Because the situation was too critical at that time, coupled with the lack of materials, so that the wound was not treated at all, along the way, the piercing pain from the ankle constantly attacked Duan Suquan's brain, but in order not to make the soldiers feel painful, he clenched his teeth and did not say a word.

However, his mouth did not make a sound, which did not mean that the rest of his body would not make a movement, along the way, Duan Suquan's blood continued to flow down, because the wound was too deep, and this blood easily stained the ground under his body. When the soldiers saw this, they persuaded him to lie down on the stretcher, but he was still bleeding on the stretcher.

Like jackals smelling of blood, the various reactionary forces frantically attacked the Qiandong Independent Division, and it didn't take long for me to suffer heavy losses, but I couldn't shake off the enemy army.

On this day, the sky was dark, and there was a drizzle around it, and the comrades of the Qiandong Independent Division braved the rain and climbed up the mountain.

Scattered in line, carrying hunger and dragging heavy steps, climbing steep hills, raindrops falling on the ground, making it more difficult for the warriors to maintain balance, and the crowd climbed and wrestled at the same time, delaying their progress.

Wang Guangguang sighed, Duan Suquan's heart was also very heavy, as the political commissar of the army, he could not command the battle, shared the worries of the commander, and even the road could not be walked well, so he had to drag 4 comrades to carry him and carefully walk on the slippery hillside. At this moment, the pain in Duan Suquan's heart had already exceeded the pain in his body.

The enemy was still coming at them, the soldiers were already tired and dizzy, and the division commander was even more anxious. He must lead the remaining soldiers out as soon as possible and meet the main force.

Duan Suquan, who was bleeding profusely, was lying on a stretcher, his face was as pale as paper, and the wound was too serious to heal within a few days.

The division commander wanted to temporarily place him in the homes of ordinary people to recuperate, but he could not open his mouth, under the current situation, which ordinary people dared to take in a wounded red army? Even if there were such people, under the strict search of the reactionary forces, it would be difficult to hide! To put them away is to give up, but it is equally dangerous not to put them in a position. The division commander opened his mouth several times, but finally chose to lean down and ask Duan Suquan's opinion.

Although Duan Suquan understood the difficulties left behind, he did not want to continue to drag his teammates down, so he still said:

"Just do it, division commander, you take the troops first!"

An officer and two soldiers sent Duan Suquan to Toyota Village in Yajiang Township, Xiushan County, where a warm-hearted tailor, Li Mufu, looked at his flesh-and-blood body and was momentarily moved by compassion and agreed to leave him behind. Considering that it was too dangerous to hide in his home, he decided to lead him to a small crescent-shaped hole in the local mountain to live temporarily.

The small cave with a depth of about 10 meters is very dark and damp, in order to make Duan Suquan feel better, Li Mufu and his wife brought some straw, part of which was cushioned underneath as a mattress, and part of it was used as a quilt.

Pictured| Li Mufu took a photo in front of the "Red Army Cave" where Duan Suquan was hidden

It turned out that the cave was not safe enough, and the next day, several members of the vigilante group broke into the cave.

These evil elements took three pieces of ocean from Duan Suquan's body and stripped him of his military uniform, after which the leader of them picked up a large knife and was about to slash Duan Suquan.

Li Mufu, who was standing nearby, quickly called out his name and pleaded:

"Don't be evil, he is disabled, he can't move, just try to get rich, don't harm people's lives!" Seeing that he has not lived long like this, you sympathize with him! ”

Li Mufu made clothes for these people, and he still had some face, and the reactionary leader glared at Duan Suquan with a vicious look, but finally let him go.

Li Mufu helped him enter the cave again, leaving some herbs behind, and left with tears in his eyes. After that, Li Mufu and his wife would send some sweet potato porridge and herbs to the cave every day to maintain Duan Suquan's life.

This situation lasted for more than half a month, and after half a month, Li Mufu was not so diligent in sending it, and it is no wonder that a poor family in a mountainous area could not even feed his own people, where did so much food come from to supply the wounded of the Red Army?

Li Mufu did not send anything for several days, Duan Suquan in the cave could only drink mountain spring water to live, later, he really couldn't hold on, plus he also wanted to see if there was an accident in this old countryman's home, so he supported his body with two palms and knees, and climbed hard to the door of Li Mufu's house. Finally arriving at the door, Duan Suquan's knee revealed Sensen's white bones, and he also fainted in pain.

Mr. and Mrs. Li Mufu helped him into the house, washed his wounds with warm water, and fed him some sweet potato porridge.

Duan Suquan finally eased up, and then, looking at the pale face of this old man, he understood that it was time for him to leave. Thinking about it, he decided to go back to his house.

After understanding his thoughts, Li Mufu asked the carpenter to make two crutches for him overnight, and the carpenter built him a bamboo tube and put on a rope to hang on the crutch as a begging bowl.

Since then, Duan Suquan bid farewell to Li Mufu and his wife and embarked on a dangerous and unpredictable road of begging.

Duan Suquan jumped forward with two crutches in his hand, Li Mufu and his wife were behind, looking at this naked", wearing only a pair of shorts "beggar", tears kept pouring out, no way, the Li family was too poor, even tattered clothes, could not send a body.

In 1934, Duan Suquan, the 18-year-old political commissar of the division, led the troops to break through and "sacrifice", but miraculously returned to the team 3 years later

What Su Quan did not know at this time was that in November 1934, the Qiandong Independent Division had been completely destroyed, and the division commander Wang Guangguang was brutally killed by the enemy in December.

It was precisely because Duan Suquan did not know it yet, so his full attention was still focused on how to return to his hometown and return to the army.

Duan Suquan left the local area and relied on begging to go to a land temple in Chadong Town, Huayuan County, Hunan Province, where he obtained more than 2,000 copper plates, and with these copper plates, Duan Suquan felt that his heart was much more secure, and with them, he could smoothly return to his hometown.

However, just as he was immersed in the yearning for his future life, a tall beggar slammed open the door of the Land Temple. As soon as he snatched Duan Suquan's money, no matter how Duan Suquan shouted, it would not help.

After that, Duan Suquan understood that money was touching, and begged again, so he only begged for some leftovers to maintain his physical strength.

But even so, the evil elements did not spare him, and one day a well-meaning man pulled him into a corner and whispered:

"Cripples, you hurry up, the regiment always knows your true identity, they said they are going to throw you into the river to feed the fish!"

Hearing this news, Duan Suquan jumped out and immediately left Chadong Town, he had not yet returned to the army, but he could not die!

Continuing to beg for hundreds of miles, Duan Suquan arrived at Wangcun Town in Yongshun County, Xiangxi Province, which had a river that led directly to Yueyang, where Duan Suquan passed, and suddenly had the idea of going from here to Yueyang and then starting from Yueyang back to Chaling.

Thinking like this, he jumped close to the river and stumbled upon a boat that had finished unloading rice and was preparing to go to Yueyang. Duan Suquan pleaded bitterly with the owner of the ship and wanted to take a ride. The owner of the ship asked him who he was, and he said it was Chaling's. Helplessly, the township sound is different, and the owner of the ship who is not a chaling person cannot understand it, and has been shaking his head.

Duan Suquan, who had attended elementary school, was afraid of missing this opportunity and had to delay the trip, so in a hurry, he used a bookkeeping pen on the ship to write down the five big characters of "Hunan Chaling people". These words are written strongly and powerfully, and they look very atmospheric.

The owner of the boat looked at these words and immediately realized that the identity of the beggar in front of him was not ordinary, and he also felt some pity, so he agreed to let Duan Suquan take his boat.

Duan Suquan landed on the boat and took the boat all the way to Yueyang, and then, with the help of others, got on a train loaded with coal in Yueyang.

After the vehicle arrived at Liling Station, he got out of the car and began to beg along the road again. On July 17, 1935, it successfully arrived at Huangtuling Station in Youxian County.

At this moment, Duan Suquan had completely lost his previous vigorous appearance, and the long-term suffering made his eyes dim, because he did not have time to clean himself, his beard was pulled, and his long hair on the shawl was full of lice.

In 1934, Duan Suquan, the 18-year-old political commissar of the division, led the troops to break through and "sacrifice", but miraculously returned to the team 3 years later

However, even though he had fallen into such a situation, he was still happy from the bottom of his heart when he thought of his hometown, which was getting closer and closer, and when he thought that he could return to the army.

Perhaps his joy was so special that a common man tried to talk to him.

Coincidentally, this common man was also a Chaling person, and from Duan Suquan's accent, he also realized that they were fellow villagers.

In a foreign land, the identity of the fellow villager is always touching, and the fellow told Duan Suquan that his name is Liu Weichu and he is currently the owner of a small local tofu shop. The reason why I came here today is to do things. Seeing that they were all watching a poor beggar, he also came to join in the fun, but he did not expect that the beggar was actually a fellow countryman with him.

Later, Duan Suquan saw that he was sincere, and he truthfully told him his true identity and recent encounters. After Liu Weichu heard this, he couldn't help but sigh a few times, and he was also moved by kindness, and strongly invited Duan Suquan to live in his home for a few days.

Duan Suquan, under the support of Liu Weichu, came to the Liu family tofu shop, the Liu family was very hospitable, and after a break, he had to clean up Duan Suquan's body.

This was also the first time in more than a year since Duan Suquan had begged that he had shaved off his messy hair, put on clean clothes, returned to his ordinary appearance, and began to treat his body normally.

Under the hospitality of Liu Weichu, Duan Suquan lived in this small shop for 42 days, and his body was basically restored and he could stand and walk.

Considering that it was time to leave here, Duan Suquan wrote a letter to his father in his hometown, who borrowed more than a dozen oceans, came here to thank Liu Weichu for his kindness, and took his son home.

After returning to his hometown, Duan Suquan still did not give up the fiery dream in his heart, and he told his father that he wanted to return to the Red Army troops! The old father was full of sadness, and finally chose to respect his ideas.

One day in September 1937, my hometown came back with a named

Tan Mao Dog

He also served in the Red Army, but unfortunately, during a war with Zhang Xueliang's troops, he was captured by the enemy and became a service soldier of the Northeast Army. Now he has returned home to visit his family.

At that time, out of the cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, the large troops were fighting against Japan in the northwest at this moment, and from the mouth of Tan Mao Dog, Duan Suquan inquired about a lot of information about the Red Army, and his heart was very happy.

Knowing that the troops could not easily enter, he asked Tan Mao Dog for a military uniform and vacation certificate as a talisman, and went straight to the eighth route army's office in Taiyuan.

At that time, Comrade Ren Bishi was working here, when he overheard a noise outside, he called people in to see that it was Duan Suquan, an old subordinate who had held a memorial service before.

At first, Ren Bishi stayed where he was, and he couldn't understand how the "sacrificed" comrades had come back by deception. Only after that did the reaction, the old subordinates did not die!

Thinking like this, Ren Bishi stood up, excitedly tapped the shoulder of the old subordinate who had not been heard from for three years, and said excitedly:

"We gave you a memorial service before!" Turns out you're not dead! Good! If you don't die, you will be blessed! ”

Duan Suquan told the old boss all of his experiences in the past three years, and ren Bishi listened to it and sighed: "Li Mufu and Liu Weichu are very good comrades, if the revolution succeeds, you must not forget to thank them!" ”

Just as Ren Bishi thought, Duan Suquan was awarded the rank of major general after the founding of New China, and he has never forgotten these people who have helped him.

In 1950, Duan Suquan, then commander of the Air Force of the Northeast Military Region, specially sent someone to Chaling to visit Liu Weichu, and after knowing that Liu Weichu's son wanted to contribute to the motherland, he also sent him to Dalian Engineering College for further study.

After that, in addition to sending money to Liu Weichu from time to time, Duan Suquan would also take him to his home and said that he would stay with him for a long time. Or Liu Weichu said that he was more accustomed to life in the countryside, which was the end.

Liu Weichu died in 1983, and before his death, the old man often said to the people around him: "This great 'official' of the Communist Party that I have saved is the most important and righteous!" ”

Duan Suquan saw the scars on his feet, and often thought of Li Mufu in the mountains of Sichuan, and he also wanted to go to the local area many times to inquire about the whereabouts of this benefactor, but he could not do so until after the reform and opening up, he did not get a clue.

Elder Li Mufu also learned that this leader wanted to find himself, and he was very excited, and immediately called his son to ask him to tell the leaders of the Xiushan County Party Committee that he had covered the red army's passing. The cadres of Xiushan County immediately came to the old man's house, which clarified the events of that year and sent the photos of the old people to Duan Suquan.

Duan Suquan looked at these photos, tears could not stop flowing, and could not help but write to the local county party committee:

How happy I am to see the pictures of several elderly people! They are worthy of the relatives of the Red Army and deserve to be respected and loved by the new society.
