South Korea has an ace unit, known as the "Tiger Force", this unit is the "Capital Division" that defends the Korean capital, whether it is weapons and equipment or combatants, it is the top in South Korea, so it is called the ace unit of South Korea. However, in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, the Volunteer Army once annihilated the "White Tiger Regiment" of the South Korean "Tiger Troops," and the reason for annihilating the "White Tiger Regiment" was that there was a division commander who made great contributions, and he was Yang Dongliang.
Yang Dongliang was born in 1916 in Dingzhou, Hebei Province, to a peasant family. In the early years, in order to make a living, Yang Dongliang once joined the Northeast Army, he originally wanted to do a career in the old army, but after joining the Northeast Army, Yang Dongliang found that officers often beat and scolded soldiers, and most of them embezzled military salaries, which was far from the troops who saved the country and the people in his heart, so Yang Dongliang left the Northeast Army and returned to his hometown.
In 1937, when the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression broke out in full swing, Yang Dongliang joined the local anti-Japanese salvation organization in his hometown and joined the guerrillas as a military officer. In 1938, Yang Dongliang joined our party as a full party member, and soon after, he was transferred to the Jizhong Military Region as a battalion-level cadre. Throughout the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Yang Dongliang spent most of his time serving in the Jizhong Military Region, and in 1945, Yang Dongliang witnessed the victory of the War of Resistance, by which time he had become a regimental cadre.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Yang Dongliang served as the commander of the 203rd Division of the 68th Army, leading the 203rd Division into the Korean battlefield and participating in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. During the Period of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, Yang Dongliang once made a great contribution, but his great contribution was a little different.
It turned out that during the negotiation of the Korean Armistice Agreement, the "United Nations Forces" represented by the United States had basically agreed to sign, but Rhee did not agree to sign. Rhee felt that he still had the ace troops in his hands, and he wanted to rely on this trump card to fight the volunteer army. Syngman Rhee's trump card is the "Tiger Force" we mentioned earlier, and the Volunteer Army also decided to annihilate this unit.
At that time, Yang Yong, the commander of the 20th Corps, attached great importance to this battle, and he personally gave the order: shelling the enemy at 21:00 on July 13. In general, the orders issued by the commander cannot be easily changed. However, after receiving the order, Yang Dongliang, the commander of the 203rd Division, advanced the time of the artillery attack by 5 minutes. Don't underestimate these 5 minutes, these 5 minutes are the key to the success or failure of this battle. Moreover, 5 minutes in advance, the enemy was caught off guard, and the "White Tiger Regiment" was surprised, completely annihilating Rhee's ace force, and shortly thereafter, the Korean Armistice Agreement was officially signed.
After the war, Yang Dongliang was waiting to be punished, but he was promoted to the first deputy commander and chief of staff of the Sixty-eighth Army, and he also received praise from his superiors. After returning from Korea, Yang Dongliang was awarded the rank of colonel and became the founding colonel. In 1967, Yang Dongliang was transferred to Jiangxi as the commander of the Jiangxi Provincial Military Region, and it was also during this term that Yang Dongliang experienced the September 13 Incident.
After the 913 incident, some of the generals related to Lin Zong were examined, and this incident also implicated many other generals, including Yang Dongliang. Yang Dongliang is the commander of the Jiangxi Provincial Military Region, and the Jiangxi Provincial Military Region is subordinate to the Fuzhou Military Region, and after the September 13 incident, Han Xianchu, commander of the Fuzhou Military Region, although not censored, also did a review at the meeting. Zhou Chiping, the political commissar of the Fuzhou Military Region, was also dismissed after the September 13 incident, and as a military cadre under the jurisdiction of the Fuzhou Military Region, Yang Dongliang was also unfortunately implicated and was dismissed from his post in 1972.
After being dismissed, Yang Dongliang disappeared from people's vision and has since stayed away from the official scene. After the Third Plenary Session of the Eleventh Central Committee, rectifying the chaos became the main tone, and Yang Dongliang also made a comeback and was appointed as an adviser to the armored corps of the Jinan Military Region. In 1983, Yang Dongliang left for retirement, and in his later years, he mainly lived in the dry rest house of the military region, and his life was properly guaranteed. In 1989, Yang Dongliang died of illness at the age of 73.
