Ding Xianguo was born in 1909, a native of Macheng, Hubei Province, born in a rural family, and when he grew up a little, Ding Xianguo joined the local peasant Red Guards, and in 1929, at the age of 20, Ding Xianguo officially joined the Red Army. After joining the Red Army, Ding Xianguo participated in the creation of the Eyu-Anhui base area and the Sichuan-Shaanxi base area, and participated in the Long March with the Red Fourth Front. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Ding Xianguo participated in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, and followed the volunteer army into the Korean battlefield. On the Korean battlefield, Ding Xianguo entered a completely new field of work, he began to be responsible for the logistics of the troops, and successively served as the director of the second branch of the Logistics Department of the Volunteer Army and the deputy director of the Logistics Department of the Volunteer Army, which guaranteed the logistics supply of the Volunteer Army in the Korean battlefield, laid the foundation for the final victory of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, and also accumulated rich experience for him to engage in logistics work in the future.

At the first ceremony after returning from Korea, Ding Xianguo was awarded the rank of major general and became the founding major general. After the title, Ding Xianguo continued to engage in logistics work, first as the dean of the Logistics Engineering College, and soon after was appointed deputy director of the General Logistics Department, partnering with Qiu Hui to jointly manage the General Logistics Department.

Fast forward to 1971, and after the outbreak of the September 13 Incident, Qiu Huizuo, then head of the General Logistics Department, was quarantined and dismissed. With the dismissal of Qiu Huizuo, some managers of the General Logistics Department were also dismissed, including Ding Xianguo. Objectively speaking, Ding Xianguo and Qiu Huizuo were only in terms of work; during the revolutionary period, the two had little intersection, and after the founding of the People's Republic of China, there was only a connection in work, but because of Qiu Huizuo's relationship, Ding Xianguo was still dismissed from his post.

After being dismissed, Ding Xianguo has been idle at home, because of the 913 incident, Ding Xianguo has not resumed work. However, the organization did not forget Ding Xianguo's outstanding military achievements during the revolutionary period, and paid him a monthly salary so that Ding Xianguo's life could be properly guaranteed. In 1983, Ding Xianguo officially retired. According to the regulations, the founding major general can enjoy the treatment of deputy post of the grand military region after retiring, and Dante Xianguo enjoys the treatment of the main army after retirement.

After Ding Xianguo retired from the army, the state equipped him with a chef and a health doctor to take care of his life, however, in order to save money for the country, Ding Xianguo did not want any, he has been taking care of himself. In his later years, Ding Xianguo loved to walk around the residence when he was fine, and he walked around for a purpose: Ding Xianguo had been picking up the rags and accumulating the money he had sold.

Ding Xianguo has almost no requirements for life, and he is comfortable with rough tea and light rice every day. Seeing this, I think many people are strange: Ding Xianguo enjoys the treatment of the regular army, has a fixed salary every month, and he does not spend much money, so what is he doing so desperately to save money for? It turned out that Ding Xianguo was concerned about the poor children in the mountainous areas, and after seeing that they had no books to read, he was very anxious, so he started from himself and donated the money he earned from picking up the rags and the salary after retirement to the children in the poor mountainous areas, so that they had books to read and schools to go to.

In his later years, Ding Xianguo spent most of his life in Chongqing and died of illness in 2001 at the age of 92.
