Gao Shunqiao was born in 1924 in Shandong, to a poor peasant family, and the family often ate and did not eat. After growing up a little, Gao Shunqiao began to herd cattle for the landlords, but this still left him hungry. In 1939, the 115th Division of the Eighth Route Army marched eastward to create the Shandong Anti-Japanese Base Area, and when the Eastward Eighth Route Army passed through Gao Shunqiao's hometown, Gao Shunqiao threw away the whip of cattle and joined the Eighth Route Army.
In his later years, Gao Shunqiao once recalled that the motivation for joining the Eighth Route Army at that time was very simple, that is, to eat a full meal. At that time, the conditions of the Eighth Route Army were not good, only to feed the soldiers, and even so, it was much better than the days before Gao Shunqiao, so Gao Shunqiao strengthened his determination to stay in the Eighth Route Army, and since then, he has remained in the coastal area of Shandong to insist on guerrilla warfare, fighting against the Japanese invaders and puppet troops.
Gao Shunqiao was familiar with the local terrain and could ride horses, and soon he became a messenger for the troops, responsible for passing on information. However, in early 1943, Gao Shunqiao was wounded in the course of a battle, after which he was placed in the rear hospital to recuperate. During the recuperation period, Gao Shunqiao was approved to join the party, and the army also arranged for him to return home to visit his family, but Gao Shunqiao's wish was granted.
After recuperating, Gao Shunqiao was assigned to the headquarters of the 115th Division as a guard, where he met Mr. Lin for the first time. After meeting Mr. Lin, Mr. Lin simply asked Gao Shunqiao's name, asked him what battles he had participated in, and never asked Gao Shunqiao any other questions, and Gao Shunqiao became Mr. Lin's personal guard. The headquarters gave Gao Shunqiao two pistols, and Gao Shunqiao felt particularly powerful, and two pistols were inserted in his waist, always vigilant and carrying out his tasks.
Gao Shunqiao served as a guard for Mr. Lin for three years, and during the Liberation War, Gao Shunqiao left Mr. Lin to participate in the anti-bandit movement in the northeast region. After the founding of New China, Gao Shunqiao went to the Korean battlefield and participated in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. After returning from Korea, he was awarded the rank of lieutenant and in 1958 transferred to work on a labor camp in Qinghai. It is worth mentioning that Mr. Lin has never forgotten his own guard, and during Gao Shunqiao's time in Qinghai, Mr. Lin also entrusted someone to bring him two large front door cigarettes.
In 1965, Gao Shunqiao applied from Qinghai to return to his hometown in Shandong, but he had no house in his hometown, he wrote a letter to Mr. Lin, telling him that his life was difficult, and soon after, Mr. Lin sent more than three hundred yuan to Gao Shunqiao, and Gao Shunqiao used this money to build a house.
On September 13, 1971, the September 13 Incident occurred, and the plane on which Mr. Lin was traveling crashed in Mongolia. As his personal guard, Gao Shunqiao was not subject to quarantine censorship after the 913 incident, but he became much more silent. As a veteran, Gao Shunqiao often took the initiative to mention his past to the surrounding villagers before the 913 incident, especially his experience of acting as a guard for Mr. Lin with a double gun.
However, after the 913 incident, Gao Shunqiao never mentioned his past again, let alone Mr. Lin, and he seemed to have aged a lot at once. In addition, Gao Shunqiao's kidney was seriously injured during the revolutionary years, and in his later years, he was also trapped by injuries and illnesses, and his life was not satisfactory. In 2005, Gao Shunqiao died of illness in his hometown at the age of 81.
