The Long March refers to the strategic shift of the main forces of the Red Army from the revolutionary base areas south of the Yangtze River to the Rendezvous of the Shaanxi-Gansu Revolutionary Base Areas, and the heroic Red Army defeated the enemy's encirclement, pursuit, and interception; in the absence of supplies, without a foothold, with aircraft bombardment on the ground, a large river blocking the lower part, a heavy ambush in the front, and a pursuit by elite troops in the rear, the natural environment was very harsh, and it overcame many difficulties and obstacles in one fell swoop and won the great victory of the Long March.
On the eve of the Long March of the Red Army, in order to ensure the smooth progress of the Long March of the Red Army, the senior leaders of our Red Army did a very strict job of keeping secrets on the Long March, all martial law, strictly sealing information, and at the same time creating illusions to confuse the enemy, so that the Kuomintang spies found nothing, the enemy's espionage department knew nothing about it, and the military command organs did not hear anything at all, and it was not until 1 month later that the main force of the Red Army was transferred. So how did this secrecy work get so tight?
First of all, starting from the top level, the scope of strategic transfer is limited to dozens of high-level commanders of the Red Army, and other leading cadres at the army and division levels are only allowed to "know the necessary measures that need to be implemented within their areas of competence", such as where the troops will assemble, where to march in the morning, etc., and the original numbers of each unit are all used in pronouns.
Secondly, the base areas urgently "expanded the red" and collected materials, claiming to expand the Red Army of 100,000 iron to replenish the source of troops. At the same time, all Soviet districts mobilized in an all-round way to rush to make straw shoes, cloth shoes, hats, clothes, straps, belts, and other military materials, and various localities set off a vigorous "borrowing campaign," "fundraising campaign," and "saving campaign" to subscribe to the Red Army's public bonds. The Red Army replenished ammunition, repaired firearms, organized troops, and strengthened military and political training.
Judging from the preparations for these Red Army's Long March, there were organized, planned, and purposeful strategic actions, and at the same time, secrecy work was the first priority, and all people and things involved that might leak the red Army's long march military operations must be seriously dealt with in order to ensure the secret operation of strategic transfer. Despite the tight secrecy, there is still a possibility of leaks, among which, qiu, who was a confidential statistician in the General Supply Department of the Red Army at the time, was only 18 years old, and was suspected of being a leaker, so he was punished by severe measures, but he was lucky to pick up his life, and here we tell the story of his adventure.

Soon after Qiu Hui took office as a statistician, preparations began on the eve of the Red Army's Long March, and one morning in early June 1934, his superiors gave him a special task of blowing up several arsenals, pharmaceutical material factories, and several warehouses in Shengli County, with the aim that these things could not be left behind to the enemy after the Red Army was transferred, and that some floating wealth should be buried. The things in several warehouses can be quickly dispersed, and if they can't be dispersed, they will be destroyed. Things have to be handled cleanly. The leaders stressed that the matter was absolutely confidential and that our intentions could not be detected by the locals and the workers in the factory. If we knew about it and passed it out, it would shake the morale of the military and people in the base areas and would be very unfavorable to the current struggle. Your handling of the arsenal may be more difficult, and it is better to take night action. This is a top-secret work of the Soviets, and if it is leaked, it is not tolerated by military law.
After Receiving this work, Qiu Huizuo immediately selected more than a dozen people and quickly went to several areas designated by his superiors to destroy materials. The first stop was a military material warehouse in Shuitou Village, Shengli County, where thousands of variegated rifles and ordnance supplies were stored, which were all treasures at the time, but could only endure the pain. So he decided to take over the warehouse first, transfer all the existing personnel and then dispose of the goods. In order to keep it a secret, the work was all done by himself, and the staff of the warehouse was transferred to the government office for concentration, and after handing over the contents of the warehouse, they were all scattered. Next he decided to sink everything in deep water. There is a water dock in the warehouse, and the loading of ships is carried out in public during the day, saying that it is transported to the front, and then the items are sunk in the deep water of the river at night. This is indeed a foolproof way.
The location of the weapons warehouse
Then, Qiu Huizuo's second stop was Qiaotou Town, Shengli County, which is today's Qiaotou Township in Yudu County, which was the seat of the county government at that time, and there was a large ammunition depot in the town, and the director of the warehouse was a wounded and disabled red army commander. The items in stock are basically some waste, such as unexploded mines, grenades, aircraft bombs, etc. The warehouse is in the mountains southeast of Qiaotou Town, where there are many natural stone caves, several of which are large caves in the warehouse area, which has been closed and the staff has withdrawn. Only the disabled warehouse director lived at the head of the bridge, and he could not take care of things, and the cave there became a hiding place for bandits, and that day he happened to search for three landlords who had escaped from their homes and hid there, so they tied them up and escorted them back to the county security bureau. Then the supplies were gathered and set on fire. I thought that the handling of the bridgehead warehouse was difficult, but I did not expect that he successfully completed the task.
The location of the Arsenal
The last task was an arsenal in Jiangmian Town, Shengli County, with a civil structure, a courtyard type, a courtyard in the middle, and a workshop in front and behind, and the factory had three branches: a bullet factory (for renovation), a sand turning plant (for making grenades) and a repair factory, with a total of more than a thousand workers. The ravine more than twenty miles long where the factory is located has long been classified as a military restricted area, there are no residents, and there is a guard company dedicated to guarding the factory. This is the focus of the work, and the purpose of destroying the factory must be disguised by moving to other places to build factories.
The situation in the Arsenal of the Red Army
First of all, Qiu Hui made an in-depth mobilization and held a workers' congress to speak, saying that in order to crush the enemy's fifth "encirclement and suppression," it is necessary to strengthen military production. It is necessary to divide the existing factories into three, move them to different places to expand production, and meet the needs of the war in different directions of operation. His speech was "persuasive" and they believed it completely. Subsequently, according to the original plan, the equipment of the factory was divided into three parts, nominally divided into three factories to be expanded. In fact, part of the equipment has to be taken away, and part of it has to be destroyed.
The same is true of the personnel, who are nominally deployed in the form of three "new factories", but in fact they are separated according to the ones to be taken away and dismissed in the future, and they are driven to different locations and become local guerrillas. The administrative organization of the arsenal actively cooperated, and the personnel transfer was completed quickly. Another fifteen hundred transporters were transferred by official letter, and the goods to be taken away from the factory were carried away, and the unwanted ones were stacked on the spot. After about ten days, there was no one in the factory except the guard company. How to destroy items is difficult. Machines and other iron products are not afraid of fire, and many machines cannot be disassembled for a while. Later, the company commander of the factory guard company proposed a method: to concentrate the explosives and blind grenades left by the factory, pile them together with the machines, and destroy them by explosion.
Qiu Huizuo successfully completed the special task and was not praised by his superiors, but in early October 1934, when the Long March was about to begin, he found himself under surveillance, and then suddenly several people rushed in, tied him up, and announced that he was suspected of leaking secrets. He was then identified, sent to the execution ground, and executed. What he did not expect was that when he was being executed, Ye Jizhuang, the leader of Qiu Huizuo, and others came on horseback, Ye Jizhuang was shocked to see this, and then resolutely disagreed with the death penalty imposed on Qiu Hui, and under his persuasion, the leader finally decided to let Qiu Huizuo go.
Qiu Huizuo, who picked up one of them, then participated in the Long March with the Central Red Army, and later served as the chief of the third section of the Fourth Bureau of the Central Military Commission and the director of the Grain and Grain Department of the General Supply Department of the Red Army; during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he served as deputy director of the Supply Department of the Central Military Commission, director of the Finance Committee of the Yuwan Soviet Border Region, and political commissar and organization director of the Supply Department of the Fourth Division of the New Fourth Army; during the Liberation War, he served as director of the Political Department of the Reliao Military Region; during the Liberation War, he served as the secretary of the Prefectural Committee of the Twenty-second Sub-district and the political commissar of the Chifeng Military Subdistrict; and during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, he served as deputy political commissar and director of the Political Department and political commissar of the Eighth Column of the Northeast Democratic Coalition Army (later the Forty-fifth Army of the Fourth Field Army). He participated in famous battles such as Liaoshen, Pingjin, and Hengbao. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he served as deputy political commissar and director of the political department of the 15th Corps, deputy director and director of the political department of the South China Military Region, and second deputy director of the political department of the Central South Military Region. He was awarded the rank of lieutenant general in 1955.
Qiu Hui made countless achievements in his life, led by example, treated his work very seriously, and was praised by most people, which can be said to be an outstanding meritorious achievement, but unfortunately, the late festival was not guaranteed, when he wrote his memoirs in his later years, he recorded in detail the death penalty when he was 18 years old, and sighed: The superior leader let me live for seventy more years! Since then, his name has been recorded in the history of war, which can be regarded as the completion of merit.
