But none of this was a problem for Zhang Aiping, who firmly believed, and even if he was arrested twice, he was unswerving, not afraid or flinched, and maintained a lofty discipline.
Whether it was in his hometown of Sichuan or all the way to Shanghai after leaving Sichuan, during this period, Zhang Aiping saw too much suffering of ordinary people, and the experience of working underground made him realize the importance of the army. After her second release from prison, it was considered that Zhang Aiping was no longer suitable to stay in Shanghai. So at the end of the same year, he joined the Red Army, starting from a small captain, and in every battle, he showed heroism and led the way. In the course of the Long March, he performed well, and after arriving in northern Shaanxi, he became a cavalry commander, repeatedly built Qigong, and twice went to the Red Army University for further study.
After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, before recovering well, it soon ushered in the Kuomintang attack, Zhang Aiping was seriously injured in a battle and had to go to the Soviet Union for treatment, and when she returned to China, the three major battles were nearing the end. After careful consideration of the choice, the central government appointed Zhang Aiping as the commander of the East China Navy, responsible for the formation of the naval force. This meant that Zhang Aiping had to start from scratch, and in the end, he not only pulled up a combat-capable unit in a relatively short period of time, but also established a school dedicated to training the navy.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Zhang Aiping undertook the work of the National Defense Science and Technology Commission after commanding a series of battles, participated in the formation of two bombs and one satellite, and missile troops, and later became a vice premier. In 1980, when Zhang Aiping was seventy years old, she began to report that she wanted to leave, but Deng Xiaoping did not agree, and it was not approved until seven years later. Zhang Aiping lives a simple life and is very strict with her family. From leaving her hometown in 1929, it was not until decades later that Zhang Aiping was able to return to her hometown after many years of absence because of her inspection work.
