When they arrived in Nanjing, Yu Fengzhi found Song Meiling to intercede, but Song Meiling was helpless. Desperate, Yu Fengzhi expressed his willingness to go to prison with Zhang Xueliang, just to take care of his life. It was not until much later that Chiang Kai-shek agreed.

However, the general with unlimited scenery has been reduced to a prisoner of the order, and the taste is not good. The wife of the knot hair was still with her when she was down, and Zhang Xueliang's bitter heart finally had some comfort.
The days of house arrest under the order of the prisoners are really difficult. The long-term sullen depression and the turbulent displacement that tossed and turned around constantly destroyed Yu Fengzhi, who was frail and sickly.
Yu Fengzhi, who had accumulated depression, was diagnosed with breast cancer in the spring of 1940. She had to tearfully bid farewell to Zhang Xueliang and go to the United States to seek medical treatment.
