However, at this time, the Central Military Commission made an order to withdraw troops. As a last resort, General Xu Shiyou had no choice but to lead his troops to withdraw. As he was leaving, he blew up all the Vietnamese military bases and arsenals along the way. The supplies and food hidden in the cave were also taken with them. At this point, Vietnam's national strength has since been completely exhausted.
In fact, the counterattack against Vietnam is not only about China and Vietnam. Judging from the situation at that time, the international community also stood on the sidelines. The reason why the Vietnamese dared to provoke China was because of the support of the Soviet Union. At that time, the Soviet Union had completely fallen out with us. Although on the surface they dare not launch a war of aggression, they have always isolated us in the socialist countries.
After the outbreak of the Sino-Vietnamese War, Cuba, Czechoslovakia, the GDR, Bulgaria, Hungary, Poland, Mongolia, Ethiopia, Afghanistan, Albania, Mozambique, Angola and many other Soviet brothers condemned us. Of course, they were only currying favor with the Soviets, who did not have any actual support for Vietnam. It is even more unlikely that troops will be sent to Asia.
However, Deng Gong already had close contact with the United States at this time. Then-US President Jitter even made a direct phone call to threaten the Soviet high-level. Under these circumstances, the Soviet Union did not dare to act rashly. Of course, our Beijing Military Region, Lanzhou Military Region, Shenyang Military Region, and Xinjiang Military Region have all entered the first-level combat alert. Be ready for possible battles.
At the same time, Western countries in the international community have secretly unanimously supported China. However, they remained neutral on the surface and actively mediated. Of course, North Korea and Cambodia have firmly supported us. It is worth mentioning that Cambodia is actually the biggest winner of the war.
