Why did Castro not pass the throne to his son, but to his brother, and what happened to his son in the end

We cannot speak of Cuba without mentioning Castro, the first supreme leader of the Republic of Cuba, who built a socialist country on the doorstep of the United States and, despite more than fifty years of economic blockade by the United States, still stands tall.

In 2011, Castro left for medical reasons. After leaving office, Castro handed over power to his younger brother Raul.

We know that in terms of blood relations, the son must be the closest to the father, followed by the younger brother. But why did Castro not give power to his son Fidel Jr., but to his younger brother?

In 2016, Castro passed away. On February 2, 2018, Fidel Castro Jr. shot himself seven times in a row. So why did Castro's son commit suicide? What happened to him that he couldn't get over?

Fidel Jr.'s full name is Fidel Castro Diaz Bharat, and because of his resemblance to his father and the same beard, he is known as "Little Fidel".

When Fidel Jr. was 6 years old, Castro and his mother Mirta divorced. Little Fidel, who lacks maternal love, and Castro, who is busy with work, rarely get the chance to meet. Fortunately, he lived up to expectations, attended school in the Soviet Union, and eventually received a doctorate in nuclear physics.

Little Fidel, who returned to Cuba, was highly anticipated by Castro and was reused. Since 1980, he has chaired the Cuban Atomic Energy Agency and led the Development of Nuclear Technology by the Cuban Atomic Energy Commission. Only until 1992, Fidel Jr. did not make any achievements. He did not lead the technical team to obtain research and development results, nor did he use his study abroad experience to obtain support from Soviet nuclear technology. This disappointed his father, Castro, who hoped to make a breakthrough in the nuclear field.

Eventually, Castro dismissed Fidel Jr. in the name of managing chaos.

In Castro's eyes, even an atomic energy commission cannot be managed well, and if it cannot make achievements, how can it manage the country well?

Since then, Castro has not valued his son, never given him the opportunity to participate in politics, and only let him hang a false position as a science and technology adviser in the government.

His younger brother Raul, who shared happiness and hardship and was highly capable, was deeply valued by Castro.

In Castro's struggle to create a socialist system in Cuba, his younger brother Raul has been his most trusted right-hand man. It began when the two joined the revolution in 1953, overthrew the U.S.-backed Batista dictatorship together, were arrested and imprisoned together, went into exile together, and fought guerrillas together. The brothers have always fought side by side and have never been separated. After Castro came to power, Raúl took full control of the military and became the core power figure in Cuba. He not only excelled in military command, but also in economic management.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Cuban economy at that time fell into a state of stagnation, and Raúl implemented market economy reforms throughout the country and achieved good results. With Raúl's assistance and efforts, Cuba, which has suffered from U.S. economic sanctions, has stabilized its economy and society. Castro also safely escaped 638 CIA-planned assassinations.

Based on the stability of Cuba's development, Raúl became Castro's successor.

in Castro and Raul

After being fired by Castro in 1992, Fidel Jr. has never been involved in Cuban politics.

Castro, who was evaluated as incompetent, had not spoken a word to him for nearly two years, which made little Fidel live under mental pressure all day and slowly suffer from depression.

In 2000, the father-son relationship eased. But Castro still did not give Fidel Jr. a chance to get involved in politics. In 2006, Castro was hospitalized for surgery and temporarily handed over power to his younger brother Raul, Cuba's number two man. As a popular successor, Little Fidel has slowly faded out of everyone's sight since then.

In 2011, Castro handed over power entirely to Raul, whose domestic influence was second only to his own. In doing so, he has made a steady transition from the Cuban state and is concerned with future development in mind. Little Fidel, who has no political experience and is not conformist, is incomparable to Raul.

After the return of the young Fidel after completing his studies in the Soviet Union, he was full of ambition and was ready to take over. But Castro's disapproval of his abilities not only cost him his position, but also made him lose his successor qualifications.

In the years that followed, Castro's indifference to him made him even more frightened and lost. The huge psychological gap has caused it to suffer from severe depression,

After Castro's death in 2016, the completely disappointed little Fidel completely broke down and finally shot himself seven times in a row a year later.
