He was martyred in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, but he was slandered as a traitor and wronged for 50 years

At the time of the September 18 Incident, hundreds of thousands of Northeast Troops retreated without a fight, and gave the Northeast land to the Japanese, making countless Chinese people sigh.

However, the Northeast Army, which had no resistance at the time of the 918 Incident, after the July 7 Incident, threw itself into the War of Resistance and fought very tragically, and many senior generals were bloodied on the battlefield, such as the General Wu Keren introduced today.

He was martyred in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, but he was slandered as a traitor and wronged for 50 years

Wu Keren was born in 1894 in Ning'an, Jilin (famous Ningguta), which now belongs to Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang. Wu Keren has a patriotic heart since he was a child, and when he was in junior high school, he said to his classmates: "No matter how much we learn, but the country has become someone else's fish meat, aren't we also fish meat that can be slaughtered?" ”

Classmates asked him what to do? Wu Keren threw the book on the ground and said, "What else can I do?" When you join the army and have guns and cannons in your hands, the great powers will be afraid of us! After saying this, Wu Keren resolutely left the school, went south to Baoding, Hebei Province, and was admitted to the artillery section of the Baoding Officer School.

In 1920, Wu Keren returned to his hometown in the northeast and joined the Feng Army. Zhang Zuolin was very appreciative of this Baoding Military Academy high-caliber student, and said to Zhang Xueliang: "Our northeast is full of treasures, Wu Keren is one, you can use it in the future!" Zhang Xueliang also regarded Wu Keren as a confidant and sent him to study in artillery schools in Japan and France.

Wu Keren was deeply appreciated by Zhang Xueliang, and naturally loyal to Zhang Xueliang, when the September 18 Incident broke out, although Wu Keren was full of righteous indignation and crushed his steel teeth, he did not say anything out of loyalty to Zhang Xueliang.

Later, Zhang Xueliang attacked the Red Army in northern Shaanxi on the orders of Chiang Kai-shek, and Wu Keren could not bear it any longer, saying: "Chinese fight Chinese, what is the matter!" The old ancestors have spirits underground, how to look at us who are not xiao descendants! ”

Wu Keren, who was then the deputy commander of the 67th Army, said to the commander Wang Yizhe: "Hurry up and make an armistice with the Red Army, otherwise, our army will be exhausted, and old Chiang will not feel sorry for us. ”

After the Xi'an Incident, Zhang Xueliang was placed under house arrest by Chiang Kai-shek, Wang Yizhe was also killed by the pro-Chiang faction in the army, and Wu Keren was promoted to the commander of the 67th Army, mediating in the center, and finally stabilized the hearts of the army.

Later, Wu Keren went to Fenghua, Zhejiang Province, to visit Zhang Xueliang, which was Chiang Kai-shek's "special grace," but Wu Keren came out of Fenghua and went to Shanghai, where he openly announced in the media the firm anti-Japanese attitude of Zhang Xueliang and the Northeast Army, which made Chiang Kai-shek very passive and angry and scolded Wu Keren for disregarding the overall situation.

After the July 7 Incident, the Japanese army attacked Tianjin, and Chiang Kai-shek urgently dispatched reinforcements from the 67th Army. Some people within the 67th Army disagreed, saying that Old Chiang Kai-shek was letting our Northeast Army be cannon fodder, but Wu Keren said: "We usually talk about killing devils every day and fighting back to our hometown in the northeast, and now the opportunity has come!" Listen, we are not cannon fodder for Chiang Kai-shek, but cannon fodder for the Chinese nation, supreme glory! ”

On the day he received the order, Wu Keren took his troops to a large truck and braved the heavy rain to go north. On the way, Wu Keren took the lead in singing a military song, and the people on both sides praised it.

In the Hebei battlefield, the various units of the Kuomintang army fought separately, resulting in the 67th Army becoming a lone army and suffering heavy casualties. According to the regulations, Wu Keren could lead his troops to retire and rest, but when the news of the Battle of Songhu came, Wu Keren went directly to Nanjing to find Chiang Kai-shek, saying: "Soldiers are proud of being killed on the battlefield, and the war in Shanghai is urgent, so let me go to Shanghai and die in battle!" ”

Before rushing to the songhu battlefield, Wu Keren said to his subordinates: "In this battle, I have no intention of coming back alive!" The first is to repay the kindness of Deputy Commander Zhang's knowledge, and the second is to fight to the end for the Chinese nation! ”

After arriving in Shanghai, Wu Keren was ordered to go to songjiang county and hold out for three days to ensure the retreat of the main force. The weapons of the 67th Army were not as good as those of the Japanese army, the casualties were very large, and it seemed that it was almost impossible to resist, Wu Keren grabbed a machine gun, disregarded the rain of bullets, rushed to the front money, and while shooting, shouted: "Those who dare to retreat, kill!" I take a half step back and kill! ”

The soldiers saw that the commander was not afraid of death, and all of them bravely moved forward, building a great wall with their flesh and blood!

The 67th held for three days until the main force was safely withdrawn, but the 67th Army could not go, because the bridge over the Suzhou Creek was blown up by Japanese aircraft, and Wu Keren had to order a trip to the river, but just as he was crossing the river, Wu Keren was hit by a bullet and died on the spot.

What is even more tragic is that some people actually slandered Wu Keren for surrendering to the Japanese army, and also used the Japanese army as a guide to attack Nanchang. Chiang Kai-shek also saw that Wu Keren was not happy, and immediately canceled the number of the 67th Army, and the families of the fallen soldiers of the 67th Army did not receive pensions.

In 1987, the Ministry of Civil Affairs officially rehabilitated Wu Keren and the 67th Army, and Wu Keren was also posthumously recognized as a revolutionary martyr. At this time, a full 50 years have passed since General Wu was martyred.
