General Qin Jiwei: Just joined the Red Army, he participated in the Battle of Huang'an, and almost left the team due to gunshot wounds

General Qin Jiwei joined the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army in 1929 and the Communist Party of China in 1930. He once served as regimental commander, division commander, column commander, commander of the 15th Army, commander of the Beijing Military Region, and minister of national defense.

General Qin Jiwei: Just joined the Red Army, he participated in the Battle of Huang'an, and almost left the team due to gunshot wounds

When he joined the Red Army, he participated in the Battle of Huang'an as a company commander, and then almost left the team due to gunshot wounds, and after surviving the pain, he finally became a generation of tiger generals.

In August 1929, Qin Jiwei, who was less than 15 years old, led 7 small friends from the village to the township Soviet government to grind soft and hard, and finally grinded a letter of introduction.

With a letter of introduction, they found the Thirty-first Division of the Eleventh Army of the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army, begged bitterly to join the army, and finally got their wish. Qin Jiwei was assigned to the Third Regiment Machine Gun Company as a soldier.

At that time, the Red Army in Dabie Mountain was under the rampant "encirclement and suppression" of the Kuomintang army, fighting very frequently and living an extremely difficult life.

Although Qin Jiwei was a "red little ghost" who had just joined the army, he had a strong disposition, could bear hardships and stand hard work, and fought bravely.

The first battle he fought was to attack a regiment of the City Gate Guard in Macheng County. At that time, he did not even have a gun, and he rushed forward with a dart, determined to kill the Nationalist soldiers with his own hands and capture a gun.

As a result, this battle eliminated part of the defenders, he personally captured a sleeve gun, fulfilled his wish, was praised by the company commander, and was promoted to deputy squad leader.

When he was deputy squad leader, he was wounded twice and could not get out of the line of fire and was tested. In April 1930, qin Jiwei joined the Communist Party of China through the introduction of company instructor Guo Shijin. In the same month, the Red Eleventh Army was reorganized into the Red First Army.

Soon, Qin Jiwei was selected to be sent to the camp school for training for two months, and after the training, he was assigned to the Red First Army as a platoon leader.

02

In January 1931, after the Red First Army and the Red Fifteenth Army were merged into the Red Fourth Army, Qin Jiwei was transferred to the second company of the pistol battalion of the military department as a platoon commander and company commander.

On November 7, 1931, the Fourth Front Army of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army was formally established in Qiliping, Huang'an County, Hubei Province, with jurisdiction over the Red Fourth and Red Twenty-fifth Armies. Xu was the former commander-in-chief and Chen Changhao was appointed political commissar. Soon, the Red Army was engaged in the third anti-"encirclement and suppression" struggle.

The pistol battalion of the Red Fourth Army was organized into the headquarters of the Red Fourth Front, and Qin Jiwei was still the commander of the second company. In the famous Battle of Huang'an, he led the Second Company to follow Xu Xiangqian to the front line and successfully completed the task of defending the general headquarters.

At that time, Huang'an was an important stronghold of the Kuomintang army on the southern front that extended into the Eyu-Anhui base area, and was held by 2 brigades and 4 regiments of the 69th Division of the Kuomintang Army, and 4 divisions behind and behind it were in response.

In order to annihilate a large number of his living forces, Xu Xiangqian used the tactic of "besieging the city to fight for aid", surrounded Huang'an, attracted military reinforcements, gathered and annihilated in the wild, and smashed the "advance and suppression" deployment of the Kuomintang army on the southern front.

Sure enough, less than 10 days after the Red Army besieged the city on the night of November 10, reinforcements from the three divisions of the Kuomintang army came with great momentum.

The battle was fierce and arduous, and it was fought until December 19, when the two reinforcements of the Kuomintang army merged into the Zhangshan area on the outskirts of Huang'an City, breaking through the deep positions of the Red Army, only four or five miles from the general headquarters.

03

The situation was very critical, and the general headquarters could hear the dense sound of gunfire. Regardless of his personal safety, Xu Xiangqian braved artillery fire to run to the forward position and organized and commanded the troops to counterattack.

In order to protect the safety of the commander-in-chief, Qin Jiwei led the second company to the front of Xu Qianqian, first seizing a hill to block the reinforcements of the Kuomintang army that had reached the middle of the mountain.

The war is raging and the bullets are raining down. Xu Xiangqian was observing the command on the top of the hill when he was suddenly shot in the right arm, temporarily bandaged the wound, and continued to command the battle.

Qin Jiwei saw it in his eyes, and he couldn't contain the anger in his heart, so he grabbed the shell gun in one hand and swung the saber in the other, shouting loudly, "Rush!" Lead the whole company down the mountain like a fierce tiger, rush into the enemy position, and engage in hand-to-hand combat.

Under the command of Xu Qianqian, the friendly and neighboring troops also rushed to launch a brave counterattack, and the killing sound of killing up and down the mountain was tremendous. After half a day of bloody fighting, it finally crushed many attacks of the Kuomintang army, annihilated more than 2,000 people, and turned the tide of the war into a safe situation.

On the night of December 22, the Red Army launched a general offensive against Huang'ancheng, and on the 23rd captured Zhao Guanying, the commander of the 69th Division, and the battle ended in victory.

04

After Huang An's great victory, the headquarters of the Red Fourth Front decided to form the Young Communist International Regiment, which was directly under the leadership of the headquarters.

The pistol battalion was incorporated into this regiment, and Qin Jiwei remained the commander of the second company, responsible for the guard work of the head of the headquarters. He trained the troops rigorously, making the Second Company one of the main companies of the whole regiment, completing guard and arduous combat tasks many times.

In May 1932, Chiang Kai-shek personally dispatched himself as the commander-in-chief of the "suppression of bandits" in the three provinces of Eyu and Anhui, mobilized 300,000 Kuomintang troops, and began the fourth large-scale "encirclement and suppression" of the Eyu-Anhui Soviet region in June of the same year.

The Red Army, with the support of the broad masses of the people, waged a heroic defensive battle. In the battle against the steep slope of Macheng County, the Second Company of the International Regiment of the Young Communists was one of the main attacking forces.

Steep Slope Mountain is a small hill bag, surrounded by paddy fields, and lonely mountains rise abruptly. The defenders were originally a band of bandits, very fierce, and later recruited by the Kuomintang army, reorganized into a regiment of the Thirty-first Division, built a strong fortification on the mountain, and became an important stronghold in the southwest corner of Macheng.

Xu Xiangqian ordered the International Regiment of the Young Communists to cooperate with the Eleventh Division to resolutely take the steep slope of the mountain.

The steep slope mountain has two mouths in the east and west, the Young Communist International Regiment is responsible for hitting the east entrance, and the second company is the first echelon. Qin Jiwei led a platoon to take the lead, and the instructor led a platoon on the flank to attract defender fire.

Braving the rain of bullets, they rushed through an open field, rushed to the bottom of the fortifications, drilled into the dead end of the shooting, and immediately set up a ladder, and Qin Jiwei was the first to climb up and seize the opening.

05

At this moment, the Kuomintang army counterattacked fiercely, and a bullet hit Qin Jiwei's right arm, knocking off the box gun in his hand, and he immediately rolled down from the opening.

But he still stubbornly stood up and climbed up the opening to continue directing the battle. The messenger pounced on him and pressed him, and immediately bandaged his wound with a white cloth and rescued him from the line of fire.

The Battle of Steep Slope Hill annihilated a regiment of the Kuomintang army and achieved a major victory. Qin Jiwei was sent to a field hospital for treatment.

In October, the fourth anti-"encirclement and suppression" campaign finally failed due to Zhang Guotao's mistake in strategic guidance, and the main force of the Red Fourth Front withdrew from the Eyu-Anhui Soviet region and began to move to the west.

Qin Jiwei, as a seriously injured person, followed the hospital's actions. The troops have always been unable to turn around, the number of wounded and sick has been increasing, and the difficulties in hospitals have become more and more difficult.

Qin Jiwei's injury, the bullet was drilled in from the inside of the arm and penetrated from the outside of the arm. Due to lack of medicines, poor hygiene, wound infection, rotten smell, often painful to drill the heart.

The troops fought in the battles of Zaoyang and Xinji on the border between Henan and Anhui, and suffered even greater casualties, so they had to break up the International Regiment of the Young Communist Party and supplement other troops. Under the sinister situation of the Kuomintang army blocking the front and chasing after the rear, the troops fought hard continuously and killed the road and besieged it.

06

The routes taken by the Red Army troops were all in the white areas, and the number of wounded in the hospitals was increasing, and only the mobilization and evacuation were to hide them in the homes of ordinary people to nurse their wounds. Qin Jiwei is no exception.

One evening, before the troops were about to leave, the leaders sent someone to send Qin Jiwei two small yuan treasures to him to recuperate at his hometown. However, Qin Jiwei insisted on following the troops, and the head of the troops was very embarrassed.

Qin Jiwei said without hesitation: "Please rest assured that the troops are very difficult at the moment, and I know it." I hurt my hand not my leg and could follow the troops. I don't sit on a stretcher, I don't ride an animal, I even climb over the Qinling Mountains! It will never be a burden on the troops! ”

With superhuman perseverance, Qin Jiwei overcame many difficulties and endured great pain, and traveled 1,500 kilometers with his army, arriving in Tongjiang County in northern Sichuan in mid-December. By this time, his wounds had all festered, and he was also emaciated.

Due to the large number of casualties in the troops on the way to the battle, some comrades-in-arms who had not seen him for many days shouted with surprise and joy when they saw him: Commander Qin Company, I didn't think you were still alive!

In northern Sichuan, the Red Fourth Front gained a foothold and began to create a Sichuan-Shaanxi base area. Qin Jiwei was taken to the hospital to recuperate.

In the process of recuperation, unexpectedly, there was a typhoid fever, and all the hair fell out, which was really worse! Fortunately, there are many Chinese herbs in Sichuan, and the doctors let him drink a large bowl of soup medicine every morning, middle and evening, and finally cured his illness and injury.
