Guo Rugui is a native of Tongliang, Sichuan, born in 1907, when he was 12 years old, his father sent him to Chengdu Higher Normal School to study, soon, the "May Fourth Movement" broke out, all kinds of ideas in the society have been mixed, Guo Rugui under the influence of the teacher Hu Zilin, the original good feeling for socialism, in 1925 after graduating from Chengdu United Middle School, his father decided to let Guo Rugui go to Shanghai to study medicine.
At that time, one of Guo Rugui's cousins, Guo Rudong, had already served as a division commander in the Sichuan Army, and he was preparing to select a group of talents to go to Guangdong to apply for the Whampoa Military Academy founded by Sun Yat-sen.
When he graduated from the military academy, Chiang Kai-shek launched the "April 12" counter-revolution, and Guo Ruzhi stayed in the army of his cousin Guo Rudong, and in 1928, he was introduced to join the Communist Party of China.
In 1930, due to the outbreak of the Central Plains War, Guo Rugui lost contact with the party organization, at this time, under the oppression of Chiang Kai-shek, Guo Rudong also began to clean up the Communists in the army, Guo Rugui decided to go to Japan, what he did not expect was that he had contact with the party organization again, it was 15 years later.
After the "918 Incident", he and his patriotic classmates returned to China, after which he studied and taught at the Army University.
After the Xi'an Incident in 1936, the domestic trend eased somewhat, and it was a foregone conclusion that the two parties would cooperate again, Guo Rugui decided to serve the motherland, and after being introduced by his classmates, he came to Chen Cheng's 14th Division as chief of staff.
When the Anti-Japanese War broke out in full swing, the 14th Division went to Suzhou to participate in the Battle of Songhu, when the 14th Division was transferred to the front line of the Tangkou In the north and south of the war, the commander of the 42nd Brigade of the division was timid, and the division commander Huo Yuzhang was afraid of his mistakes, so he made Guo Rugui the brigade commander.
Although Guo Rujie counted the first time he went to the battlefield, he was not afraid at all, and immediately left a suicide note to the division commander Huo Yuzhang: My eight thousand athletes have been sacrificed, the enemy's offensive has not weakened, and the future is uncertain. If the position exists, I will be alive and see the throne. If the position is lost, I will die on the battlefield, and I will be anointed with wild leather. He won the Victory of the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, and as a famous anti-Japanese general, when you crossed wusongkou by ship, if there were waves like mountains, then I came to see you.
After writing the suicide note, Guo Rugui took the soldiers to the front line, after several days of fierce fighting, the 42nd Brigade more than 8,000 people were left with more than 2,000 people, and soon, Guo Rugui received the order to change the defense, he returned to the rear, just as Song Qingling, He Xiangning organized a condolence group to come to comfort, Song Qingling specially gave Guo Rujing a sweater to commend him for his bravery in battle.
After the Battle of Songhu, Guo Rugui was promoted to chief of staff of the 54th Army.
During the Battle of Wuhan, Chen Cheng was appointed commander-in-chief of the Wuhan garrison, and at that time Chiang Kai-shek followed the advice of German advisers to build a ring defense system around the three towns of Wuhan, and Guo Rugui questioned this practice.
At a military conference of senior generals organized by Chen Cheng, Guo Rugui said: "We must tear down and start again, if we build a circular position along the three towns of Wuhan, if we break through at one point, the whole army will collapse..." In the end, Guo Rugui summed up: "Defend Wuhan, but not fight in Wuhan", the main reason is to preserve the living forces.

After the Battle of Wuhan, although the Nationalist army lost, the Nationalist army did not suffer too much loss, and Guo Rujie was commended and promoted to chief of staff of the 20th Group Army, and also served as the commander of the Provisional Fifth Division.
Guo Rugui then participated in the Third Battle of Changsha, etc., for eight years of the War of Resistance, Guo Rugui used his wisdom to the extreme, was trusted by Chen Cheng and Chiang Kai-shek, in 1945, Guo Rugui was promoted to deputy director and director of the Military Affairs Administration in charge of the establishment and equipment of all military divisions across the country.
It was also at this time that Guo Rugui met with a member of our party named Ren Lianru, who talked about his desire to find a party organization, and a few days later, under Ren Lianru's arrangement, Guo Rugui met Dong Biwu.
Guo Rugui wanted to return to the party organization, but Dong Biwu did not reply, and two days later, Ren Lianru found Guo Rugui: "Elder Dong said that you asked for the restoration of party membership, in principle, you can, but you have to go through a test. You have little effect on going to Yan'an, and I hope that you will stay here to provide the party with some valuable information. It is up to me and you to contact each other in a single line. ”

In 1946, Guo Rugui was promoted to lieutenant general of the Kuomintang War Department, which was an important military department of the Kuomintang that could directly participate in the command of operations, and at the same time had the right to provide Chiang Kai-shek with combat plans.
Guo Rugui's assumption of this position can be described as the most important, and he has thus become the highest-ranking red agent of our army in the Kuomintang.
In this position, Guo Rugui took advantage of his position to provide a lot of important information for the party organization, the Menglianggu Campaign, the Huaihai Campaign have Guo Rugui's shadow, in early 1949, after the end of the three major battles, Chiang Kai-shek appointed Guo Rugui as the commander of the 72nd Army and went to Sichuan to recruit troops.
At this time, Chiang Kai-shek still had great trust in Guo Rujie, and when our army was preparing to march to Sichuan, Chiang Kai-shek flew to Chongqing and held a combat conference to guard the great southwest. After the meeting, he personally summoned Guo Rujie and inquired about the combat situation of the troops.
Soon, Chiang Kai-shek reappointed him commander of the 22nd Corps, and in December 1949, when the time was ripe, Guo Rugui revolted.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, our army treated Guo Rugui as an uprising general, and Guo Rugui's application to rejoin the party was never answered, until 1979, when the superiors finally agreed, and guo Rugui rejoined the party.
In his later years, Guo Rugui enjoyed the treatment of deputy corps commander, after retiring, he settled in Sichuan, at that time in the face of the crooked trend of pursuing enjoyment in society, Guo Rugui frankly said to Liao Bokang, who was then the secretary of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee: "I hope to start from yourself, adhere to the good tradition of using domestic watches, and do not take imported cars." ”

In 1997, guo Rugui died in a car accident while taking her daughter to the airport, at the age of 90.
