Dr. Wei Lande, President and CEO of BMW Brilliance, said: "The BMW Group has included sustainable development in the strategic agenda of the group company more than 20 years ago, so BMW Brilliance has been concerned about sustainable development for many years. Since 2014, we have transparently and openly shared BMW Brilliance's ecological footprint with the public through the release of our annual Sustainability Report. BMW Brilliance is an active promoter of the concept of green development, not a passive responder to sustainable development. Our results also prove that innovation empowers sustainable development. As a technology-driven enterprise, BMW Brilliance is led by technological innovation and drives green development. We are convinced that 'there can be no sustainable development without transparency'. ”

As the first industrial energy conservation and green development evaluation agency in China's automotive industry, the "Automotive Enterprise Green Development Index" released by CHINA AUTOMOBILE Data takes the promotion of green development of the automotive industry as the core, aiming to guide enterprises to establish a standardized, accurate and transparent green information disclosure mechanism to support the green and high-quality development of the automotive industry.

After nearly 20 years of exploration and efforts, BMW Brilliance has integrated sustainable development into the core of corporate strategy and established a perfect and advanced green development information disclosure system. As of 2021, BMW Brilliance has released sustainable development reports for eight consecutive years and green development reports for three consecutive years, practicing sustainable development with practical actions, improving information transparency, and playing a leading role in the low-carbon transformation and sustainable development of Chinese automotive enterprises. In 2021, BMW Brilliance was awarded the "2020 Corporate Best Practice Award for Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals" by the United Nations Global Compact China Network. By actively responding to climate change, circular supply chain and other green actions, BMW Brilliance has actively responded to many of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and become a pioneer in sustainable development in the industry.

Lead the low-carbon transformation of the whole value chain

BMW Brilliance is committed to embedding sustainability throughout the value chain, providing innovative solutions in R&D, production, supply chain, logistics, sales and other aspects to reduce the carbon footprint of the entire value chain to help achieve the BMW Group's 2030 climate commitment.

From the R&D stage, BMW Brilliance has applied the concept of low carbon to technology research and development, making progress in battery recycling, efficient power, lightweight product design and improving the efficiency and mileage of internal combustion engines. BMW Brilliance also conducted a full life cycle assessment to reduce its carbon footprint in accordance with the ISO 14040/44 standard and completed a full life cycle assessment of the BMW iX3 in 2020.

In the production process, as a leading enterprise in green intelligent manufacturing, since the end of 2019, BMW Brilliance's Shenyang production base has achieved 100% renewable energy power supply production. In 2020, BMW Brilliance's single production energy consumption decreased by 7.4% compared with 2019, and the carbon dioxide emissions of a single production unit were reduced by 7.5% compared with 2019, and successfully passed the triennial review review of national green factories, fully achieving the dual control target of total energy consumption and intensity in China's "13th Five-Year Plan". In terms of supply chain emission reduction, BMW Brilliance launched the "Supply Chain Climate Change Action Initiative" to identify the most effective ways to reduce emissions in the supplier network and improve the transparency of carbon disclosure and reporting in the supply chain. In 2021, BMW Brilliance set up a supply chain sustainability management project team in China to formulate a more scientific emission reduction plan for China's supply chain according to China's national conditions.

BMW Brilliance also runs the concept of green and low-carbon through the logistics link and continues to expand the proportion of low-carbon transportation. In 2020, 78% of the whole vehicle was transported by rail in whole or in part, and compared with 2014, the emissions of CARBON dioxide vehicles transported by factory logistics were reduced by 51.3%. This year, the BMW Hefei Parts Distribution Center was officially opened, which is BMW's first AFTERmarket parts "green warehouse" in China that meets LEED certification level standards.

In the sales and use of links, BMW is making efforts to build a sound ecosystem of new energy vehicles. The global debut of the innovative pure electric BMW iX3 in 2020 marks that BMW's new energy vehicles have entered a stage of rapid development. In 2021, BMW and the State Grid Electric Vehicle Company will further deepen their cooperation, and it is expected to establish 100 integrated green energy stations for filling and storage in the next three years.

Work together upstream and downstream to build a circular value chain

During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the establishment and improvement of an economic system for green and low-carbon circular development has been included in the national top-level design. BMW Brilliance attaches great importance to resource efficiency and recycling in its own operations, and works with the upstream and downstream of the supply chain to use innovative methods and technologies to realize the recycling, remanufacturing and recycling of raw materials and waste spare parts. In 2020, the average reusability rate of all BMW Brilliance models can reach 85% and above, and the average recyclable rate can reach 95% and above, which not only meets the Chinese market standards, but also meets the requirements of the EU End-of-Life Vehicle Directive.

In the use of raw materials, in 2020, BMW Brilliance created the first recycled steel closed-loop production system in 17 years by working closely with steel manufacturers. At the same time, BMW Brilliance also uses 100% recycled aluminum, at least 50% recycled nickel and recycled cobalt, and 100% renewable energy in the production process of the fifth generation of power batteries, becoming a benchmark for recycled production in the industry.

In the field of power battery recycling, BMW Brilliance has always been in a leading position. In 2020, BMW Brilliance established the first professional service network for recycling power batteries in China in Shanghai, and launched a pilot project for the cascade utilization of waste power batteries. In 2020, BMW Brilliance recycled waste power batteries increased by 33.3% compared with 2019, while the recovery rate of nickel, cobalt and manganese reached 98.5%.

In terms of spare parts recycling, BMW Brilliance has improved its spare parts remanufacturing capabilities by expanding the scope of spare parts recycling and carrying out the digital transformation of reverse logistics systems. At the same time, BMW Brilliance has expanded its product line of remanufactured spare parts, forming a closed loop from use to remanufacturing. At present, BMW Brilliance's reverse logistics recycling center in Cangzhou has been fully put into use.

In the future, BMW Brilliance will continue to cultivate in green, low-carbon and sustainable recycling under the guidance of bmw group's sustainable development strategy, and play an exemplary role in helping the dual carbon goal and sustainable development
