On April 28, on the day of the release of the third generation of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, NIO 333 FE team leader Xu Jiatai accepted an exclusive interview with Xinhua News Agency. In the interview, Xu Jiatai put forward the new demand for the improvement of environmental protection events in the new era and how to popularize electrified events in China in the future.
Ahead of this season's Monaco race, the third generation of formula FE World Championship cars was officially unveiled. This "lightest, fastest, strongest and most efficient electric racing car ever built" will be fully operational in the ninth season of FE, which is regarded as another major leap from new energy racing to green and sustainable development, and also announces the coming of the Gen3 era.
As one of the first manufacturers to confirm their participation in season nine, the NIO 333 FE team also recently announced the team Gen3 test car, the NIO 333 ER9 race car, and the NIO 333 FE team is also looking forward to showing strong enough competitiveness in the ninth season based on the environmental protection and sustainable development concept consistent with FE.
Since the inception of the event, the team has been closely following in the footsteps of the FIA for the environmental protection and sustainable development of racing, and received Samsung environmental certification in the seventh season, and will continue to serve as the backbone of the sustainable development of motorsport in the future. Team leader Xu Jiatai said in an exclusive interview: "FE is the only sports championship that has achieved net zero emissions since its inception, and I hope that there is still more room for improvement in environmental protection in future FE events, such as how to reduce air travel, logistics and transportation, and the localization of events." FE has races in Europe, the USA and Asia, we have a lot of logistics work to do and a lot of people who need to travel long distances, so we are working with FE on how to better organise our itinerary to avoid unnecessary air freight, which is obviously helpful for taking care of the planet." He also stressed: "Formula E is very sustainable compared to other championships, but there are always some things we can do better. ”
How do you view the sustainable development of motorsport in China?
In recent years, the new energy automobile industry in the field of civil vehicles in the mainland has attracted much attention, and as far as pure electric vehicles are concerned, the mileage and overall quality have been significantly improved. According to the current development of new energy vehicles in various countries in the world, the development of mainland technology is still in the ice-breaking stage, and many traditional automobile manufacturers have announced that they will stop the research and development of traditional cars before 2030 and make every effort to develop new energy vehicles. However, in-depth analysis of the development dilemma of new energy vehicles, the mainland still has many key technologies to break through, which is why major car companies will focus on motorsport with leading cutting-edge technology research and development. Xu Jiatai also said in an interview: "With the continuous improvement of car ownership in the market, more and more car manufacturers will begin to pay attention to vehicle performance and eventually devote themselves to motorsport. ”
However, how is the current development of electric racing cars in mainland China? Xu Jiatai stressed: "Electric vehicles do not currently have a very systematic series in China, but there are some projects that we are working on and hope to achieve as soon as possible. It's only a matter of time before we achieve that goal, and maybe in a year or two we can see that China has its own electric car series. Xu Jiatai also said: "FE had planned to hold the race in Sanya and Hong Kong, he is very sorry, but always believes that the situation will change, hope that FE can return to China as soon as possible, we are a Chinese team, our title sponsor and main partner is NIO Nio." So, will chinese racing one day have a prosperous event like the Winter Olympics? "The Beijing Winter Olympics have attracted nearly 300 million Chinese attention, while China's motorsport market is growing, with many new drivers coming up, more and more teams taking racing as an important business, and our car market is doing very well," he said. In such a market environment, it can be said that the development of motorsport has a very strong foundation. Compared with some Western countries, the current share of Chinese motorsport is still relatively small, which also means that we have a very broad space for development! ”
