The six departments explicitly encourage the return of overseas cultural relics

The State Administration of Cultural Heritage and other six departments recently issued the "Opinions on Strengthening the Management of Cultural Relics Collected by Private Organizations and Promoting the Orderly Development of the Cultural Relics Market". Among them, it is clear that we should explore the establishment of a national cultural relics appraisal and evaluation management system; improve the level of protection of cultural relics in folk collections; support collectors of folk cultural relics to open non-state-owned museums, encourage the authorized use and derivative product development of cultural relics resources in folk collections; refuse illegal trading of cultural relics; clarify the conditions for the circulation of cultural relics into the market; guide and encourage the return of overseas cultural relics and provide public welfare services such as exhibitions to the society; prevent the loss of cultural relics; and pilot the integration of merchants involved in cultural relics business in the qualified antique and flea markets into the management of cultural relics stores Support qualified cultural relics auction enterprises to "go global" and create Chinese cultural relics auction brands with international recognition and influence.
