Theoretically, for such an anti-Japanese hero, even if she did not get a knighthood in the end, she could at least enjoy her old age in peace. However, the fact is that after the founding of the Country, she was actually shot, and only the daughter-in-law of the whole family was released.

First of all, Zhao Hongwenguo was able to make a name for himself during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, and it was first started by his support for his son Zhao Dong to resist Japan. However, after the Liaoshen Campaign, Zhao Hongwenguo's troops were scattered, and eventually, she fled to Chongqing with the remnants of her forces, becoming the so-called "Commander of the Second Road Appeasement of the Northwest Anti-Workers Guerrillas". However, at that time, the team led by Zhao Hongwenguo was already a ragtag group of people, and they were not opponents of the People's Liberation Army at all, so when Chongqing was liberated, Zhao Hongwenguo and his party not only suffered countless casualties, but even Zhao Hongwenguo's family was taken prisoner.
After the founding of New China, Zhao Hongwenguo was sentenced to death, and in addition to this, her only remaining son was also shot. It was only because her daughter-in-law gave birth to a son while in custody, out of humanitarian spirit, that she was released.
