On December 17th, the 7th China University Museum Curators Forum and the 2021 National University Museum Excellent Interpretation Case Promotion and Display Activity were held in Beijing.

At the event, a number of experts and scholars said that it is necessary to explore the cross-border integration of university museums with education, science and technology, media, etc., and give full play to the multiple values of university museums.

Zhang Fuyu, deputy director of the Higher Education Department of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, believes that university museums can rely on the rapid development of intelligent media technology to explore new development paths. On the one hand, we can cooperate with relevant enterprises to carry out multi-perspective, multi-dimensional and multi-level value mining for precious cultural relics in the collection, expound the story behind cultural relics, highlight the historical, artistic and scientific value of cultural relics, strengthen the correlation and systematic research between cultural relics, and provide more professional and scientific cultural relics information resources for the integration of subsequent fields. On the other hand, new technologies such as the Internet of Things, cloud computing, big data and mobile Internet can be used to provide in-depth development and utilization services for cultural relics information resources.

Wang Zhi, assistant to the president of the Communication University of China, said that "first-class universities must have first-class museums" has increasingly become the consensus of the higher education industry. In the new era, colleges and universities and their museums should actively study and implement the spirit of the "Implementation Opinions on Making Cultural Relics Come Alive and Expanding the International Influence of Chinese Culture", and play a more important role in serving the teaching, scientific research, cultural construction, social services and international exchanges of colleges and universities.

When talking about how to promote the development of university museums and better play their value, Guan Qiang, a member of the party group and deputy director of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, suggested that university museums should continuously optimize and improve the quality of collections, strengthen collection management and information construction, increase the rescue and restoration of endangered cultural relics, and enhance the protection and research capabilities of cultural relics. While serving the teaching and discipline construction of colleges and universities, university museums should actively use modern information technologies such as artificial intelligence and big data to carry out online services such as cloud exhibitions and cloud education, and give play to their social education functions. In addition, college museums should further excavate the ideological and political resources of colleges and universities, innovate the form of ideological and political science in colleges and universities, and promote college museums to become a new highland for ideological and political education.

Liu Chaoying, vice chairman of the China Museum Association and chairman of the Beijing Museum Society, also suggested that we should dig deep and explain the value of cultural relics in the collections of university museums, launch a number of exhibitions with great influence and wide dissemination; give full play to the value-leading role of university museums and make them an important place for university morality; actively participate in the "Museum +" project, explore the cross-border integration and development of college museums and education, science and technology, tourism, commerce, media, design, etc., and enhance the hematopoietic function of university museums.

The Paper learned from the scene that the event was sponsored by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Cultural Relics, and the Beijing Museum Society, organized by the Beijing University Museum Professional Committee, the Beijing University Museum Alliance, the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei University Museum Alliance, and co-organized by the Communication University of China Media Museum. Heads of 25 university museums and public museums from across the country and experts in many fields attended the event.
