BMW China's electric plan for 2022: launch of the electric 3 series and the electric 7 series

After two years of product development, BMW's sales in the Chinese market have not decreased but increased, and have achieved high-quality and high-profit development in the Chinese market, withstanding the most difficult period. In 2021, for example, the BMW iX3 is expected to sell 20,000 units in the first full sales year.

Therefore, in 2022, BMW will enter the "big counterattack stage" in the Chinese market, and a large number of new car investment and comprehensive electrification transformation will make BMW expected to compete with Mercedes-Benz in the global market again. The Chinese market has naturally become bmw's top priority.

With 2022 still a few days away, BMW took "Home in China" as the main theme of the online annual meeting and issued the most "Chinese-style declaration" - "maintaining synergy between corporate strategies and China's development goals, adhering to the principle of 'China first', giving priority to the needs of the Chinese market in new product development, and continuously strengthening the co-creation of win-win results with Chinese partners." Looking ahead to 2025, the BMW Group will accelerate electrification, digitalization and sustainable development in China, keeping pace with China. ”

There is no doubt that electrification will become the most important theme of BMW in the Chinese market in 2022 and even 2025.

Dr. Peter, Global Finance Director of the BMW Group, announced: "In 2022, the BMW Group will welcome the opening of three new or upgraded plants in Shenyang and Zhangjiagang, and put into operation the second BMW pure electric vehicle in Shenyang, the Pure Electric 3 Series, further enhancing China's position as one of the three major new energy vehicle production bases of the BMW Group in the world." ”

Explaining the "China First" commitment, BMW stressed that its China will have sufficient independence to respond quickly to market changes and fully consider the expectations of Chinese customers at the product concept stage, especially in the upcoming era of electrification.

First of all, BMW will accelerate the pace of electrification in China: In 2022, the BMW brand will launch five pure electric models, including the pure electric 3 Series produced in Shenyang. In addition, a pure electric flagship model – the 7 Series-sized electric flagship sedan i7 – will also be unveiled next year. By the end of 2023, the BMW Group will offer about 13 pure electric products in the Chinese market.

In addition, BMW will continue to promote the upgrading of the national sales and service network, and more than 500 of the current 600 dealer outlets in the country have completed the BMW i business certification, that is, they can sell electric vehicle products. By 2022, BMW will work with dealers to pilot the "BMW i Experience Store" in the city center, echoing the growing demand for new energy and new experiences from Chinese consumers.

By 2025, BMW will release a "new generation" of models with a completely redesigned IT and software architecture, a new generation of high-performance electric drive systems and batteries, and a new sustainable concept throughout the vehicle lifecycle. In the development of the "new generation", the specific needs of the Chinese market will still be placed in the first place.

At this point, BMW expects that by 2025, a quarter of the BMW Group's sales in the Chinese market will be pure electric vehicles.
