Commuting 150km in a single day, is it realistic to use an electric car as a commuter car?

reality! Must be realistic!

I feel like I'll do this! Some time ago, I often had to travel between Changzhou and Suzhou, almost daily round trip, about 90 kilometers one way, about 180 kilometers round trip

Commuting 150km in a single day, is it realistic to use an electric car as a commuter car?

Looking at the problem carefully, in fact, there are two points of concern:

1, does the endurance of electric vehicles support a single-day commute of 150 kilometers?

2, when there is no home charging downstairs, is it convenient to rely on public charging piles?

Around these two topics, let me briefly talk about my experience for reference:

Commuting 150km in a single day, is it realistic to use an electric car as a commuter car?

First, does the electric vehicle endurance support a single-day commute of 150 kilometers?

From my experience, there is no problem.

(1) Economy

During my commute, I also took into account the economy, I think the commuting of electric vehicles should be more cost-effective, the other car in the family is Mondeo, high-speed fuel consumption is about 0.8 yuan / km, according to the daily 200 km to calculate an account:

Mondeo: 200 * 0.8 = 160 yuan, 160 * 22 = 3520 yuan

Xiaopeng P7: 0 yuan

Because the monthly consumption is about 5,000 kilometers, two months, Mondeo according to the maintenance manual about two small maintenance, each time about 800 yuan, Xiaopeng about to do a small maintenance, each time less than 300 yuan, we also count an account:

Mondeo: 800 * 2 = 1600 yuan

Xiaopeng P7: 300 yuan

The other costs the same as the two cars, then in fact two months of daily commuting, the difference between the driving costs of the two cars is:

Mondeo: 3520 + 1600 / 2 = 4320 yuan

Xiaopeng P7: 300/2 = 150 yuan

Single month difference: 4320-150 = 4170 yuan

From the above, it is obvious that the gap of one month is 4170 yuan, which is not a small amount for me as a hit worker, because after driving an electric car, the difference in this transportation reimbursement can be attributed to itself, which is equivalent to giving yourself a bonus, really fragrant.

(2) Endurance

The Xiaopeng P7 I drove was a super long endurance version, when the P7 gave people a deep impression of 706km super endurance, the future goes further high-performance power batteries - safer, lighter, more applicable. The endurance is stronger, and the future goes further. However, because the configuration of the ultra-long endurance is more abundant, most people still buy the ultra-long endurance, NEDC calibration endurance at 670 km, I usually prefer to watch WLTP, I am generally set to charge to 90%, charged to 90% of the endurance is generally 513KM, I generally start from six o'clock to six thirty in the morning, go straight to the unit, I generally do not take the high speed, the whole elevated + a section of the expressway, so the toll is also saved.

The road is generally maintained at the top speed of 80 or 100 per hour, the appearance of the P7 is still quite attractive, after all, the high-end coupe, the appearance of the smooth, the appearance of the shape from the mathematical and aesthetic cross-border design inspiration, fading the perfect integration between the curved surface and the body, while maintaining the sports tension of the whole car shape, but also stirring the emotions in the heart at all times. To be honest, I often attract the attention of others when I am on the road, but now that there are more cars, it is much better. The NVH of the vehicle is also good, and it doesn't hear too much noise.

When I arrive at the unit, it usually takes 90 minutes, and if Suzhou is not too congested in the morning, it can be done in 70 minutes. When arriving at the unit, the general endurance is about WLTP 400, which consumes almost WLTP 113 kilometers and runs 95 kilometers of actual distance, which is equal to about 1:1.18, and it can be better in the summer.

If you leave work in the afternoon, you generally start from WLTP400, and when you get home, the general WLTP still has about 290, and the results are basically the same as in the morning, slightly better, probably because I walked earlier in the afternoon, from four o'clock to four thirty o'clock, so that the temperature in the morning is much better.

So, in fact, if the car reserves 30 kilometers according to the WLTP, it can support the limit of running to about 400 kilometers, that is, there is no problem in supporting a daily commute of 150 kilometers, and you need to charge once every two days of commuting, and it is the point where there is room for maneuver.

(3) Comfort

The comfort of Xiaopeng P7 actually comes more from the intelligence of the vehicle, so that you will feel that he is very simple and easy to use, such as his car machine, there is a full-scene voice assistant, when driving, if you want to find any functions, or what needs, just shout on it, this in the actual experience, the feeling is still quite good. After all, there are more and more functions of the car machine now, and many times I will not remember where the button is, and it is very convenient to have this function

And P7 has the ability to upgrade OTA, vehicle OTA, comprehensive intelligent new experience, with the support of SEPA platform, P7 can not only achieve the upgrade and addition of in-vehicle APP, vehicle functions under the control of ECU can also be upgraded and adjusted, truly realize the vehicle controllable OTA. When I first started driving this car, Xiao P would not have full-scene voice, and then it was upgraded, and then it was upgraded to make people feel more like the timbre of a real person than a robot. Not only the car machine, but also more single-pedal mode on the driving, more convenient for those users who come from fuel vehicles, less control over kinetic energy recovery.

Second, can relying on public charging piles meet the charging needs?

To tell the truth, I have a private pile at home, because I have done a lot of homework before buying an electric car, and I feel that without a private charging pile, it will be very inconvenient to use the car.

However, since Xiaopeng has free charging, I feel that there is already a thick layer of ash on the private pile at home.

Otherwise, look at two maps, one is the distribution of charging piles near the Suzhou unit, you can see that the surrounding area is densely packed with various charging stations, but they are not useful to me, because they have to charge.

The second is xiaopeng's free charging station layout along my commute line, you can see that there are about 10 charging stations on the way over the 100 kilometers, which fully meets my needs for charging at any time, so I will charge 40 minutes of electricity on the way home from work a lot of time. Or when you go out for a run at night, charge 40 minutes of electricity. It's good to get used to it.

Commuting 150km in a single day, is it realistic to use an electric car as a commuter car?

The most important thing is that there is a free 3000 kWh of electricity every year, about 20,000 kilometers can be run, always feel that it is wasted without charging, and it seems that it has earned the same thing, so as long as it is convenient, I always like to charge it for a while, and see these charging records in my APP, I really have a sense of gain.

And in fact, the speed of Xiaopeng supercharge station is still good, overall, the speed of 70 kilowatts can be reached, sometimes it can also be charged to 90 kilowatts, half an hour to 80% should not be under pressure, so, overall, public pile replenishment is still very gainful, I think the experience is good.

So, in general, I think electric vehicles, such as the Xiaopeng P7, can meet the needs of a single day range of 150 kilometers.
