It is only two weeks since BMW last released news about the i7 pure electric luxury car series, but only two weeks later, the official once again released more photos and videos of the i7 for the final test on December 15, 2021. This time, BMW pulled the i7 from extremely cold areas to extreme heat areas to test the operation of electric motors, battery packs and four-wheel drive systems in extreme climates. Since the official has set the tone that this is the final test of the i7, if all goes well, it should be expected that the i7 will debut in 2022 and join the current 7 Series lineup.
Since the i7 and the current 7 Series are based on the same chassis platform development, it can be assumed that the appearance of the i7 should be not far from the 7 Series, plus the i4 and 4 Series are almost the same in terms of design, so it is indeed possible that BMW will not give the i7 too much special design; at least compared with the EQS of the rival Mercedes-EQ, the similarity between the i7 and the 7 Series in terms of design should be more similar than EQS S-Class is more similar.
At present, the official does not give any information on the power specifications of the i7, only revealing that the i7 will have the energy consumption performance of 22.5 to 19.5 kWh per 100 kilometers under the WLTP specification. However, energy performance is greatly affected by factors such as power output, drive mode and vehicle weight, so if BMW will launch different levels for the i7, then the final energy performance should also change.
On the other hand, regarding the layout of the i7's electric drive, foreign media have speculated that it will use a large battery pack of 120 kWh to provide a one-way endurance of about 700 kilometers. In addition, BMW is also likely to introduce a high-performance version with a 3-motor configuration, giving it a maximum horsepower output of 750 hp (PS). Of course, I believe that as the publication time gradually approaches, there will still be more new information released.
