21st Century Business Herald Zuo Maoxuan reported that the global wave of vehicle electrification is unstoppable, in the context of the rapid development of electrification in Europe, the United States, China and other places, toyota motors, which have previously focused more on hybrid technology and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, and Toyota Motor, which is relatively conservative in the field of pure electricity, has finally launched a strong counterattack.

On December 14, local time, standing in front of 16 pure electric vehicles, Toyota Motor President Akio Toyoda officially announced Toyota's latest comprehensive electrification strategy at the electric vehicle strategy briefing. The entire press conference was hugely informative, demonstrating Toyota's determination to transform in the era of electrified vehicles.
Product Offensive and Market Size: Toyota is expected to introduce 30 pure electric models by 2030, providing a comprehensive lineup of products in various fields including passenger cars and commercial vehicles worldwide. By 2030, global annual sales of pure electric vehicles are planned to reach 3.5 million units.
Lexus will transform into a pure electric brand: By 2030, Lexus is expected to achieve a comprehensive lineup of pure electric versions for all its models, and achieve 100% pure electric model sales in China, North America and Europe, reaching the goal of 1 million units sold worldwide. By 2035, 100% of all-electric models will be sold worldwide.
Battery: Toyota has long been committed to independent research and development and production of batteries. In the future, Toyota will increase its new investment in batteries from 1.5 trillion yen announced in September to 2 trillion yen, and expects to achieve more advanced, higher quality and more competitive batteries.
In order to promote the electrification strategy, Toyota will invest 4 trillion yen (about 225 billion yuan) in the next 10 years to develop pure electric technology and products. In addition, 4 trillion yen will be invested in the development of technologies in the fields of hybrid, plug-in hybrids, and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles.
Similar to volkswagen group, an old rival that is currently investing heavily in electrification, Toyota Motor's electrification strategy is also unprecedented.
When companies like Toyota are determined to focus on doing one thing, they are destined to be an opponent that needs to be taken seriously. In any case, for Tesla and Chinese car companies and other players who are currently at the forefront of electrification development, Toyota has the strength and confidence to strike late.
bZ pure electric exclusive series and pure electric platform
At the press conference, Akio Toyoda introduced the EXCLUSIVE SERIES OF TOYOTA bZ pure electric and the all-round BEV product lineup.
The bZ of the TOYOTA bZ pure electric exclusive series is an abbreviation of "beyond ZERO", which means that Toyota wants to achieve the value of "beyond zero emissions".
In order to flexibly respond to the diverse needs of the world, Toyota has created an exclusive platform for the BZ series of models. The first product in the series was the previously released bZ4X. It is Toyota's first globally sold pure electric platform SUV, based on the e-TNGA pure electric architecture jointly developed by Toyota and Subaru, which made its Chinese debut during the Shanghai Auto Show in April this year and plans to enter the Chinese market next year.
In addition to the bZ4x, Toyota also showed off four other new cars planned for the bZ series. These include a small SUV, a mid-size SUV, a small crossover and a midsize sedan.
From the perspective of product planning and the strategy of exclusive platform production of pure electricity, Toyota's bZ series and e-TNGA pure electric architecture are similar to Volkswagen's ID. series and MEB platform. The main thing is to form a scale advantage through the platform, thereby reducing costs and popularizing electric vehicles in the mass consumer market.
In addition to the bZ series, the Toyota brand has also released several other pure electric models, including a new pure electric pickup truck, a new compact CRUISER EV, a new electric sports car, a small electric van and other pure electric models that are used in different scenarios.
Lexus transformed into a pure electric brand
As a high-end brand under Toyota Motor, Lexus has become an important force in the group's electrification transformation. In the next 10 years, Lexus will gradually complete the comprehensive transformation from fuel vehicles to electric vehicles, and Lexus has become another luxury car brand after Volvo to announce a full transition to electric.
According to the plan, it is expected that by 2030, Lexus will achieve a full range of product lineups that provide BEV versions for all its models, and achieve 100% BEV model sales in China, North America, and Europe, reaching the goal of 1 million units worldwide. By 2035, 100% of BEV models will be sold worldwide.
"Lexus has always pursued a unique design and driving imprint, and as a pioneer in hybrid technology, it has always been committed to the unremitting exploration of electrification technology. Now, Lexus is about to open the next chapter and launch a new generation of BEV sports models, which will inherit the unique driving texture that has been refined in the LFA era, and we will also give each model a continuous driving pleasure and gradually evolve into a BEV-centered brand. Akio Toyoda said.
At the press conference, four new pure electric cars from Lexus were announced, including the pure electric SUV Lexus RZ, which has previously released a trailer, as well as a new electric sports car, a medium-sized electric SUV and an electric sedan.
