Recently, Xinhua News Agency pointed out that during the Winter Olympics, more than 700 hydrogen-fueled buses will be invested in the Yanqing and Zhangjiakou race areas to provide transportation service guarantees. This is a microcosm of the increasingly widespread application of hydrogen energy, and it is also an important signal for the widespread development of hydrogen energy in China.
Hydrogen energy is a clean energy with abundant sources, green and low carbon. It is reported that each hydrogen-fueled bus running 10,000 kilometers can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 11.8 tons. The hydrogen energy bus runs smoothly during the Winter Olympics of minus 20 degrees Celsius, and its stability and safety will be further verified.
In this regard, Guotai Junan analysis pointed out that the Beijing Winter Olympics is expected to become an important stage to show the world the development results of China's hydrogen energy industry. Fuel cell systems account for a higher cost of the vehicle, and further cost reduction is the premise of large-scale commercialization of hydrogen energy vehicles. With policy support and technological development, if a breakthrough in scale can be achieved in the future, the cost will be better controlled.

The "14th Five-Year Plan" released in March 2021 lists the hydrogen energy industry as one of the six future industries planned for the future, and under the guidance of national-level policies, more than 38 provinces and cities in China have launched a series of policies to support the development of the hydrogen energy industry.
According to China's hydrogen fuel cell vehicle technology roadmap, the number of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles will reach 50,000-100,000 in 2025, and the number of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles will reach 80-1 million in 2030-2035, mainly trucks, buses, heavy-duty trucks, etc.
As a renewable energy demonstration zone, In recent years, Zhangjiakou City has also been accelerating the construction of a comprehensive utilization industrial system for hydrogen energy, and has initially formed a whole industrial chain of hydrogen production, hydrogenation, hydrogen storage, hydrogen energy industry equipment manufacturing, fuel cell core component manufacturing, and hydrogen energy vehicle manufacturing. At present, it has 2 hydrogen plants and 8 hydrogen refueling stations, which can meet the guarantee requirements of hydrogen fuel vehicles in the Winter Olympics.
At the same time, in Zhangjiakou City, 444 hydrogen fuel cell buses have been put into operation, covering 9 bus lines in the urban area, with a cumulative operating mileage of more than 21 million kilometers and a passenger capacity of more than 62 million passengers.
