Dong Cunrui (October 15, 1929 – May 25, 1948), a native of Huailai County, Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province, was born into a poor peasant family and served as a child regiment leader, joined the Eighth Route Army in August 1945, and joined the Communist Party of China in March 1947. In the early spring of 1948, he served as a squad leader of 6 platoons, 2 platoons, 2 companies, 2 battalions, 2 companies, 32nd Division, 32nd Column, 11th Column, Northeast Field Army, Chinese People's Liberation Army. He has been awarded three major meritorious service and four small meritorious service, and has won three bravery medals and one "Chairman Mao Medal". On May 25, 1948, he died heroically in the battle to liberate Longhua County, when he was under the age of 19.
On September 10, 2009, Dong Cunrui was named "100 Heroic And Exemplary Figures who Made Outstanding Contributions to the Founding of New China".
