His sister-in-law also kept this matter a secret, until after the founding of New China, his father was invited to Beijing to attend the first Heroic Model Congress, and he realized that his son had been sacrificed.
Later, Dong Cunjin took care of his parents wholeheartedly at home, and he gave birth to four children, all of whom performed very well and shone in their respective fields.
He repeatedly taught his children that they must remain upright and incorruptible, remember the family style and family rules of the revolutionary family, and inherit the legacy of their uncle. Today, in the Dong Cunrui Memorial Hall in Nanbao Village, Huailai County, there are still many things used by the martyrs, such as red guns and rifles, lying quietly in the exhibition room.
In the memorial hall, there is a staff member named Dong Xiaoli, according to her description, the deepest impression was at the 50th anniversary of Dong Cunrui's sacrifice in 1998, his former comrade-in-arms Zhi Shunyi came to make a report, when he covered Dong Cunrui to the bunker and witnessed the whole process of Dong Cunrui bombing the bunker.
He said: "When the general attack horn sounded, the enemy's firepower was very fierce, the soldiers fell down one by one, Dong Cunrui held up the explosive package, shouted and fell down, and then the explosive package was detonated. ”
At that time, the huge explosion power also numbed Zhi Shunyizhen, and these words spoken by Elder Zhi had always been firmly remembered by Dong Xiaoli, and it was difficult for people who grew up in the era of peace to imagine that heroes could do such a great thing.
