Dong Cunrui: "For the sake of new China, rush!" ”

In the northern suburbs of Longhua County, Hebei Province, there is a martyrs' cemetery, among the pines and cypresses, where Dong Cunrui, a model Communist Party member and a famous national combat hero, is buried.

Dong Cunrui, born in 1929, is a native of Huailai County, Hebei Province. He came from a poor peasant family, and at the age of 13, he cleverly covered the secretary of the district party committee to escape the pursuit of the Japanese army invading China, and was known as the "little hero of the anti-Japanese resistance". In July 1945, Dong Cunrui joined the Eighth Route Army, and two years later, he joined the Communist Party of China. He has excellent military technology, flexible and decisive combat, and has made 3 major meritorious achievements and 4 small meritorious deeds, and won 3 "Bravery Medals" and 1 "Mao Zedong Medal".

In March 1948, Dong Cunrui's company was organized into the sixth company of the 96th Regiment of the 32nd Division of the 11th Column of the Northeast People's Liberation Army, and Dong Cunrui was appointed as the leader of the 6th Squad. Subsequently, the troops launched a 50-day large-scale military training campaign, and because of the outstanding training results, the sixth class was awarded the "Dong Cunrui Model Class for Military Training," and he himself was also awarded the title of "Model DemolitionIst."

At this time, the winter offensive of the Northeast People's Liberation Army had just ended, and in order to cooperate with the upcoming Liaoshen Campaign and the eastward advance of yang Luogeng's corps in the North China Battlefield, Dong Cunrui's column was ordered to eliminate the Kuomintang Thirteenth Army and liberate Quanrehe with swift and bold action, thus severing the connection between the enemy forces in the northeast and North China.

Longhua is the northern barrier of Chengde, the capital of Rehe Province, where the Kuomintang army built a blockhouse group and built fortifications, combined with the terrain of Moss Mountain and Longtou Mountain on which Longhua City relies, forming a solid defense system, and Longhua Middle School is the core fortification of the Kuomintang army's defense of Longhua. To take down Longhua, you must pull out this "nail".

The battle against Longhua has begun! Dong Cunrui's company undertook the task of attacking Longhua Middle School, and Dong Cunrui served as the leader of the demolition team. At the all-company combat mobilization meeting, Dong Cunrui expressed his determination on behalf of the whole class: "Even if I turn into mud after I die, I will also fill in the outer trenches of Longhua Middle School, so that everyone can step on us to take down Longhua." ”

After the battle began, Dong Cunrui led his comrades to blow up 4 artillery towers and 5 pillboxes in succession, and successfully completed the tasks assigned by their superiors before the battle. The company immediately launched a charge, but was suddenly suppressed by fierce fire from the enemy bridge-shaped bunker. The troops were blocked in the open area, and the second and fourth squads failed in two consecutive blasting operations against the bunker.

At this point, there are only 15 minutes left before the total attack is launched! At the moment of the first attack, Dong Cunrui stepped forward and asked the company commander for battle: "I am a communist, please allow me to go!" After the company commander agreed, he resolutely picked up the explosives package and rushed to the enemy bunker. As he advanced, he was wounded in his left leg, but still stubbornly rushed under the bridge. Because the bridge-shaped bunker was more than tall from the ground, and the two abutments could not place explosive packages, just when the follow-up troops were preparing to launch a strong attack, in order to protect their comrades-in-arms and help the team to kill a bloody road, Dong Cunrui calmly and calmly held up the explosives package with his left hand, and his right hand did not hesitate to pull the fuse and shouted: "For the sake of new China, rush!" "In the thick smoke, the bunker was blown up, and the follow-up troops successfully attacked, but Dong Cunrui's life was forever frozen at the age of 19...

After Dong Cunrui's sacrifice, the Eleventh Column posthumously recognized him as a "column combat hero" and a "model Communist Party member", and named the class he was in before his death as "Dong Cunrui Class"; the Jirecha Administrative Office decided to rename Longhua Middle School to Cunrui Middle School. In 1950, dong Cunrui was posthumously recognized as a "national combat hero" at the National Conference of Representatives of Combat Heroes and the National Conference of Model Workers, Peasants, and Soldiers.

The heroic feat of Dong Cunrui holding the explosive pack in his hand lit the spiritual torch that will never be extinguished, and set up an eternal historical monument, just like the inscription of Commander-in-Chief Zhu De - "Sacrifice yourself for the country and never die."
