According to Xinhua News Agency, Mr. Li Xing, a well-known director and chairman of Taiwan's Cross-Strait Film Exchange Committee, died in Taipei at the age of 91 at 9:55 p.m. on the 19th due to heart and lung failure. Born on the mainland and studied in Taiwan, Li Xing laid a solid foundation for cross-strait film and cultural exchanges.

Li Xing has in-depth contacts with famous directors such as Xie Jin and Wu Yigong. In 2008, when the host Cao Kefan was interviewing Li Xing in Taipei, the bad news of director Xie Jin's death suddenly came. Upon hearing this information, Li Xing was shocked at first: "Is it really fake?" When the mood calmed down, he said, "The death of director Xie Jin is the end of an era in film, he is a giant of Chinese cinema, we should miss him..." As he spoke, Li Xing couldn't help but shed tears.

Li Xing recalled in the show that he and Xie Jin had known each other for a short time, but at first sight, they were "like friends and brothers who had not seen each other for decades."

According to Ge Yanping, former secretary general of the Shanghai Film Association, on June 15, 2010, during the Shanghai International Film Festival, Li Xing made a special trip to Wu Yigong's home to visit Wu Yigong, and then to Xie Jin's home to visit Xie Dao's wife Xu Dawen. "At that time, accompanied by He Lin, deputy secretary of the party group of the Shanghai Municipal Federation of Literary and Art Circles, he ran to two places in half a day." Born in Shanghai in 1930, Li Xing, whose real name is Li Zida, was born in Shanghai in 1930, went to Taiwan in 1948, and later entered The Taiwan Normal College (now Taiwan Normal University). Li Xing began to dabble in the film industry in the 1950s, and in 1958 he participated in directing "Brother Wang Liu Ge Tour to Taiwan", completing his directorial debut, which was a box office hit after its release, becoming one of the masterpieces of comedy films in the history of Taiwanese cinema.

During his creative career, he shot 52 films, winning the Golden Horse Award for Best Director three times for "Duck Farmer's Family", "Autumn Decision" and "A Boat in the Ocean", and 7 works won the Golden Horse Award for Best Drama Film, and won the Golden Horse Award for Lifetime Achievement.

Li Xing has cooperated with the writer Qiong Yao to adapt Qiong Yao's novels into literary and art films, including "Wan Jun's Cousin" and "Dumb Girl's Deep Love". The two films set off a "Qiong Yao novel fever" at that time, and also led to the development of Taiwanese films. In the 1970s, Li Xing filmed films such as "Seagull Flying Place" and "Blue Cloud Sky", which set off a second wave of "Qiong Yao fever".
