There is no shortage of universities, research institutes, and postdoctoral fellows in China. There are already many universities in our country, and what is really scarce are high-quality vocational and technical schools. There are 1.4 billion people in China, not everyone needs to be admitted to university to contribute to society, many people need to go to vocational schools to learn skills that can directly serve society!
Today, the number of unemployed college students in China is as high as more than 6 million, and the shortage of high-level technical jobs is more than 10 million.
At the heart of the problem lies in the misalignment of the educational structure and the job market. For a long time, our education system has placed too much emphasis on the teaching of theoretical knowledge and relatively neglected the development of practical skills. As a result, many college students walk out of school, although they have rich theoretical knowledge, but they lack practical skills and problem-solving skills. At the same time, with the development of science and technology and the upgrading of industrial structure, the demand for high-level technical jobs is increasing, but there is little talent supply in the market.
First of all, we need to face up to the bias of the education system. The traditional test-oriented education model makes students neglect the cultivation of practical skills in the process of pursuing high scores. Therefore, we must reform the education model and strengthen practical education, so that students can better grasp the practical skills in the learning process. At the same time, schools should also strengthen cooperation with enterprises to provide more internship opportunities for students, so that they can exercise themselves and accumulate experience in practice.
Second, we need to increase social recognition of skilled jobs. For a long time, skilled jobs were regarded as "blue-collar" occupations, with relatively low social status and benefits. The existence of this concept not only limits the development space of skilled jobs, but also affects the choice of young people for skilled jobs. Therefore, we should strengthen the publicity and promotion of skilled jobs, and improve the recognition and respect of the society for skilled jobs. At the same time, the government and enterprises should also increase investment and support for skilled workers, improve their treatment and welfare, and attract more talents to devote themselves to the cause of skilled jobs.
Finally, we also need to strengthen vocational training and education. For college students who have already entered the society, they can make up for their lack of practical skills through vocational training and education. Governments and businesses can set up specialized training institutions to provide a variety of training courses for university students to help them master the practical skills and problem-solving skills they need. At the same time, we can also encourage college students to start their own businesses and participate in social practice, so that they can exercise themselves in practice and improve their overall quality.
Faced with the dual dilemma of unemployed college students and a shortage of skilled workers, we cannot sit idly by. Only through reforming the education system, increasing social recognition of skilled jobs, and strengthening vocational training and education can we gradually solve this problem.
