The record is broken! Do you know how big the world's largest freshwater fish is?

Recently, local Cambodian fishermen caught a giant stingray in the Mekong River and immediately notified the scientific team of the nearby "Wonders of the Mekong River" organization. According to professional measurements, giant stingrays are nearly four meters long from nose to tail and weigh 660 pounds (nearly 300 kilograms). It is the largest freshwater fish on record.

The world's largest record holder for freshwater fish was also found in the Mekong River, a 646-pound (293 kg) Mekong catfish caught in Thailand in 2005.

Experts say the discovery is not only a new world record, but given the many environmental challenges the Mekong currently faces, "these fish can grow so big, which is a promising sign for the Mekong."

After the measurements, the fishermen let the stingray return to their own world!
