President of the Senate of Cambodia Hun Sen met with Wang Yi

On April 22, 2024 local time, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Hun Sen, President of the Cambodian Senate, in Phnom Penh.

Wang Yi first conveyed the cordial greetings of the Chinese leaders, congratulating the Cambodian People's Party on its landslide victory in the fifth Senate election and congratulating Hun Sen on his unanimous election as the chairman of the Senate.

Wang Yi said that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and Cambodian leaders, the construction of a China-Cambodia community with a shared future has entered a new era of high level, high quality and high standards. This year is the first year for the two sides to build a China-Cambodia community with a shared future in the new era, and it is also the "China-Cambodia Year of People-to-People Exchanges". This morning, I co-chaired the seventh meeting of the China-Cambodia Intergovernmental Coordination Committee with Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanto, and reached consensus on deepening comprehensive strategic cooperation between the two countries. China is ready to work with Cambodia to implement the high-level consensus as the main line, inherit and carry forward the fine tradition of high degree of mutual trust, solidarity and cooperation, mutual benefit and win-win results between China and Cambodia, promote the implementation of major projects such as the Industrial Development Corridor and the Fish and Rice Corridor as soon as possible, strengthen the exchange of experience in governance, strengthen cooperation among the legislatures, and promote inter-party exchanges to a new level, so that China-Cambodia friendship can bring more benefits to the two peoples.

Hun Sen asked Wang Yi to convey his most sincere greetings to the Chinese leaders. Hun Sen said that Cambodia has successfully achieved generational change, with political stability, economic development, improvement of people's livelihood, and promising prospects. China is a close friend and strategic partner of Cambodia. Cambodia's determination to pursue a policy of friendship with China and its determination to promote cooperation with China remains unchanged. The seventh meeting of the Cambodia-China Intergovernmental Coordination Committee was successfully held and many consensus was reached, which reflects the high degree of political mutual trust between the two sides and will provide an important impetus for Cambodia's development. It is hoped that the two sides will further expand the scope of cooperation, enrich the connotation of cooperation, implement more major projects, and make new positive progress in promoting the building of a community with a shared future between the two countries.
