Poetry honored the Tang Dynasty and words honored the two Song Dynasties, and the words were formed in the Tang Dynasty, flourished in the Five Dynasties, and eventually developed to a peak during the Two Song Dynasties, becoming a style juxtaposed with poetry. Song Ci also became the literature of a generation, along with Tang poetry. Later generations naturally have no shortage of anthologies of Song Ci compiled by the literati, of which the "Whole Song Ci" is the most comprehensive, and the "Three Hundred Songs of Song Ci" is the most widely circulated and has the greatest influence!
"Three Hundred Songs of Song Ci" was compiled by Zhu Xiaozang, a lyricist of the Qing Dynasty, and contains a total of more than 280 words from 82 lyricists of the two Song Dynasties, which are classics in various genres of various genres. Some of the lyricists were selected for multiple songs, such as Liu Yong was selected for 13 songs, Su Shi 12 songs, and Xin Shuyi 12 songs, while some lyricists had only one word selected, such as Song Huizong Zhao Tuo, Mei Wife Crane Zi Lin Hejing, and even anonymous works.
Although many lyricists have selected few works, none of them are masterpieces that have been sung through the ages. Today I would like to introduce you to the only song selected by the Northern Song poet Qian Weiyan in the "Three Hundred Songs of Song Ci", and the second word in the "Three Hundred Songs of Song Words" - "Yulou Chun" (also known as: Mulan Flower):

Qian Weiyan was the son of Qian Qi, the last Wuyue king during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, and after Wu Yueguo surrendered to the Song Dynasty, Qian Weiyan followed Qian Li to serve in the Song court. Qian Wei was erudite and talented, deeply appreciated by the emperor, and his official path was also quite smooth, and he had achieved high positions such as Shangshu of the Army and Privy Counsellor.
In terms of poetry, Qian Wei performed the poetics li Shangyin, sang a lot with Yang Yi and others, and was called "Xikun Style" at the time, forming a major poetry school in the early Northern Song Dynasty. In terms of words, Qian Weiyan, as a disciple of the emperor, like Li Yu, also had the influence of "family learning" in filling in words. There are only a few words he has passed down, and one of them can be called a masterpiece, and was selected into the "Three Hundred Songs of Song Ci", that is, the above "Yulou Chun"!
This "Yulou Chun" is rumored to be an elegy that Qian Weiyan composed for himself in his later years. Qian Wei played a doctor with a smooth wind, but in his later years he was belittled, but he compiled the words of "Yulou Chun" and often sang solo after drinking. There was an old singer in his family named Jinghong, who once served Qian Weiyan's father, Qian Li. Shock Hong said: "When the first king was a general, he pre-composed an elegy "Magnolia Flower", and there was a sad saying "Empty Tear Eyes of the Mountains and Rivers of the Homeland", and now Xiang Gong also sings "Tears eyes and sorrowful intestines have been broken first", is it also necessary to die in another country? ”
Soon after, sure enough, Qian Weiyan died in Suizhou, the place where he lived!
What this song expresses is also qian Wei's sad feelings of frustration in his later years. Shang yan wrote hurt spring, and the opening sentence depicted the infinite scenery of the warblers and birds at the head of the city, and the vast smoke and waves under the city, a spring scene. The last two sentences began to lyrically: when the green poplar grass rested, the tearful eyes and sad intestines were broken first! With the green poplar grass to render the tearful eyes and sad intestines, naturally because of the scenery, the sadness overflows into words!
Xia Yan changed from sad spring to sentimentality, and further delicately lyrically: twilight feelings, Zhu Yan into decline, a "gradual awakening", a "surprise change", cleverly expressing the helpless twilight sad feelings! The final sentence "In the past, I was sick and tired of Fangzun, and today Fangzun is afraid of shallowness" The whole word realm is out, and the comparison between the front and back of "Fangzun" shows the sad state of mind of "borrowing wine to dispel sorrow and sorrow" at this moment!
The whole song is sentimental, the language style is not out of the delicate habits between the flowers, and the lyricism is particularly sincere and deep. From this, it can also be read that Qian Weiyan has some desperate sadness in his heart at this moment, and although the legend of the pre-composed elegy is not credible, it may as well be regarded as qian Wei's life elegy. A sentence "In the past, I was sick and tired of Fangzun, but today Fangzun is afraid of shallowness" is not exhausted, and the lingering sorrow and sadness overflow beyond words!
