Among them, retail sales in the sedan market were 765,000 units, down 12.0% year-on-year; retail sales in the MPV market were 72,000 units, down 33.2% year-on-year; and retail sales in the SUV market were 742,000 units, down 5.6% year-on-year. In March, FAW-Volkswagen won the first passenger car sales of car companies (including Volkswagen, Audi, jetta brands) with 126131 units, but its leading edge was not large, with sales falling by 40.2% year-on-year and its market share falling to 8.0%, and it should be known that FAW-Volkswagen's sales in March last year exceeded 210,000 units. The epidemic in Jilin in March was more serious, which had a very big impact on the production and supply of FAW-Volkswagen in Geely, the base camp.
In March, independent brands performed well, and three car companies ranked among the top four in terms of sales. Among them, Changan Automobile, which had sluggish sales in February, ushered in an outbreak in March, with sales reaching 120437 vehicles, ranking second, an increase of 17.2% year-on-year, and the gap with the sales volume of champion FAW-Volkswagen was less than 6,000 vehicles. Among them, the sales of Changan CS75 PLUS reached 22,811 units, yidong and Changan CS55 PLUS sales exceeded 17,000 units, and the sales of Changan Auchan X5 and Changan Benz E-Star also exceeded 10,000 units.
BYD's auto sales grew steadily, ranking third with sales of 103229 vehicles, surpassing Geely's sales, up 161.4% year-on-year. Among them, Song PLUS DM-i sold 22,375 vehicles, Qin PLUS DM-i sold 14,254 vehicles, and Dolphin and Han EV sold more than 10,000 vehicles.
Geely Automobile ranked fourth, with sales of 93,378 units in March, up 3.8% year-on-year. Among them, Geely Emgrand sold 13,591 vehicles, Xingyue L sold 11,049 vehicles, Binyue sold 9,090 vehicles, and Boyue and Xingrui both sold more than 8,000 vehicles.
GAC Toyota, which is relatively affected by the epidemic, sold 88,048 vehicles in March, ranking fifth, surpassing "brother car company" FAW Toyota, an increase of 26.9% year-on-year. FAW Toyota sold only 58,239 units in March, ranking twelfth, down 17.3% year-on-year.
SAIC Volkswagen's sales fell also very much, with retail sales of only 78,018 units in March, down 34.6% year-on-year, from second place in the same period last year to sixth place this year. Among them, Volkswagen Langyi sold 21,331 vehicles, Passat sold 10,587 vehicles, and Tiguan L and Santana sold more than 8,000 vehicles.
In addition to Tesla and GAC Toyota, other overseas brand car companies that entered the top 15 sales volume were not as good as in March compared with the same period last year. Among them, SAIC-GM sales were only 70,021 vehicles, ranking only ninth, down 40.5% year-on-year; Dongfeng Nissan sold 67,159 vehicles, ranking down to 10th, down 33.5% year-on-year; GUANGQI Honda sold 54,197 vehicles, ranking 13th, down 28.9% year-on-year; Dongfeng Honda sold 47,361 vehicles, ranking 15th, down 36.9% year-on-year.
It can be seen that among the joint venture brand car companies whose sales have entered the top fifteen, except for FAW Toyota, which fell by 17.3% and was more "moderate", the decline of other car companies was close to or even more than 30%.
Tesla is an exception, with centralized delivery of new cars at the end of the quarter, so sales in March were particularly high, reaching 65,754 units, ranking eleventh.
Compared with the increase in sales of other independent brand car companies, the sales of Great Wall Motors and SAIC-GM-Wuling are not ideal, and sales have both declined year-on-year. Among them, Great Wall Motor's retail sales of passenger cars in March were 74,071 units, down 12.3% year-on-year, ranking seventh; SAIC-GM-Wuling sold 70,841 units, ranking eighth, down 17.8% year-on-year.
GAC Trumpchi ushered in an outbreak in March, with a rare sales volume of 48,515 vehicles, ranking fourteenth, an increase of 53.8% year-on-year.
