AMD Zen4 Xiaolong motherboard first exposed: with 12 DDR5 memory, up to 12TB

In the second half of this year, AMD will launch a new Zen4 architecture, while bringing new technologies such as DDR5 memory and PCIe 5.0 bus, which is the Ryzen 7000 series (codenamed Raphael) on desktops and notebooks, and the Xiaolong 7004 series (codenamed Genoa) in data centers.

Today, the Internet exposed a Zen4 Xiaolong supporting motherboard spy photo, you can see the huge SP5 LGA6096 slot, 12 DDR5 memory slots.

Because of the large changes in architecture technology, the encapsulation interface of Zen4 Ryzen will be changed from AM4 to AM, and Xiaolong will be changed from LGA4094, which has continued for three generations, to LGA6096, adding half of the pin contacts.

The memory support of Xiaolong is currently 8-channel DDR4-3200, with a maximum capacity of 4TB per channel.

On the Zen4 platform, it will be upgraded to 12 channels of DDR5-5200, if fully plugged in, the capacity can reach 12TB.

However, this requires a high-end 3DS DIMM memory module, a single strip can have 1TB, and the frequency must be reduced at this time, perhaps only DDR5-4000 or even DDR5-3600.

According to the current news, the Zen4 architecture of the Xiaolong 7004 series will have up to 96 cores and 192 threads, doubling the L2 cache per core to 1MB, sharing 32MB of ccX chiplet level 3 cache per 8 cores, and another 128 PCIe 5.0.

There is also a derivative version of Zen4c, codenamed Bergamo, with a maximum of 128 cores, to be launched in the first half of next year.
