Seagate Technologies today announced the launch of a new Exos Application Platform storage server. This product is equipped with the second generation amD EPYC processor, has 12 bays, if equipped with 16T hard disk, it can reach 192TB, which can help enterprises carry out dense storage services, provide high flexibility and performance, and also help reduce costs.
The server is 2U thick and supports two CPUs internally. The new AP-BV-1 controller provides superior compute and storage performance with support for SAS hard drives. Officially, the Exos AP storage server is available with optional 8-, 12-, and 16-core EPYC processors with dedicated PCIe 4.0 channels that can provide 200 GbE of network connection bandwidth for faster HDD and SSD response. The motherboard comes standard with a 25 GbE ethernet port, which is usually an option in its class.
IDC statistics show that enterprise data will grow at an annual rate of about 42.2% over the next two years, but only 32% of all data will play a role, and the rest will not be used in the short term. Seagate says the cost of preserving digital data is important for businesses, requiring lower-cost equipment for data management. The new Exos AP Storage Server is able to do just that.
