As early as half a year ago, AMD announced the 3D V-Cache stacking cache technology, on the basis of the original Zen3 architecture, 64MB of SRAM is stacked on each CCD computing chip as an additional L3 cache, plus the original 64MB, for a total of 192MB.

AMD claims that this can lead to an average of 15% gameplay improvement, comparable to the generational leap.

In November, AMD released a new 3D cache version of The Dragon, including the 64-core Dragon 7773X, the 32-core Dragon 7573X, the 24-core Dragon 7473X, and the 16-core Dragon 7373X, with a total level 3 cache capacity of up to 768MB.

Now, the V-Cache cache has finally arrived at Ryzen, but not the Ryzen 6000 series, and there is only one model, named "Ryzen™ 7 5800X3D".

It stacks 64MB V-Cache on top of the original 32MB L3 cache, bringing up to 96MB in total, and if you add 4MB of L2 cache, it's a total of up to 100MB.

It is still 8 cores and 16 threads, but the frequency has been reduced, the benchmark has changed from 3.8GHz to 3.4GHz, and the maximum acceleration has changed from 4.7GHz to 4.5GHz, ensuring that the thermal design power consumption is still 105W.

AMD claims that the interconnect density of the 3D V-Cache stacked package is more than 200 times higher than that of the traditional on-board 2D Chiplet chip design, and the interconnection density is increased by more than 15 times and the energy efficiency is more than 3 times higher than that of the Micro Bump 3D package.

What about the actual performance? Ryzen™ 7 5800X3D compared to Ryzen™ 9 5900X, the game frame rate increased by about 15% on average at 1080p high quality, "Watch Dogs" reached a maximum of 40%, "Far Cry 6", "Gears of War 5", "Final Fantasy 14" can also increase by 20%.
