AmD will provide official overclocking support for the Ryzen™ 7 5800X3D

IT Home April 17 news, although AMD's new Ryzen™ 7 5800X3D processor performs well, but one of the main drawbacks of this CPU is that it is not a lockless chip, which means that it is difficult to overclock it because its multiplier is locked.

However, according to OC3D, AMD is working to implement some form of overclocking support on the Ryzen™ 7 5800X3D. The feature will purportedly be available through AMD's curve optimizer, which was introduced as early as 2020's AGESA 1.1.0.0 Patch D, which allows voltage-frequency adjustments for each core on AMD chips.

IT House understands that overclocking enthusiasts are currently using the BCLK (Base Clock) method to overclock the 5800X3D.

More recently, Skatter Bencher used a similar ASUS voltage suspension method on his X570 ROG CROSSHAIR VIII EXTREME (C8E) motherboard, enabling its frequency to stabilize to 4.74GHz at BCLK~104MHz. He also reached 4.8GHz with a BCLK of 106MHz. In addition, MSI's internal overclocking enthusiast TSAIK broke the processor's frequency beyond 5GHz with a BCLK of 113MHz on MSI's MEG X570 GODLIKE.
