AMD Zen 4 is gone! Native support for DDR5-5200 memory: DDR4 is abandoned

For friends who are waiting for the AMD Zen4 desktop processor (Ryzen™ 7000 series) and plan to upgrade, be prepared to replace the three major pieces at the same time.

In addition to the CPU itself and the new AM5 slot (LGA1718 interface) motherboard, the memory may only have to re-select DDR5.

Previously, there have been many sources that Zen 4 abandons support for DDR4, and some and only supports DDR5. Now, the news has been confirmed by Apacer, a major memory module manufacturer.

According to Arsene's memory-compatible files, both the AMD Zen 4 desktop and server chip (EPYC Genoa) will support up to DDR5-5200 memory, which is 400MHz higher than the highest DDR4-4800 of the 12th generation Core.

This spec map should be trustworthy, after all, the Zen3+ Ryzen™ 6000 mobile processor that appears in it shows support for DDR5-4800, which is indeed actually consistent.

Some friends may be worried about the high installed cost of DDR5 memory, I think it can be solved from the following angle -

First of all, the performance of the new platform is absolutely qualitative change, followed by DDR5 memory is the mainstream in the next few years, early use and early enjoyment; again, DDR5 capacity is the smallest is also 8GB jump, so it should not be simply compared with the lowest price of DDR4 pu bar; finally, it is said that Ryzen™ 7000 will integrate GPU units this time, friends with low requirements, thousands of graphics card money can be saved.
