The new car is positioned as a mid-size sedan, which is another blockbuster electric model after the BMW iX3, but it is not related to the previous rounded hatchback i3, and only follows the "i3" model name.
BMW i3 and 3 Series cars have different design ideas in appearance, such as the use of a larger size of the front double kidney closed grille shape, supplemented by silver chrome border embellishment, equipped with a more three-dimensional and layered "angel eye" headlight group, etc.; the redesigned front surround, more highlights the sense of line in the front of the car.
The BMW i3 has a body length of 4872mm/1846mm/1481mm and a wheelbase of 2966mm, which is larger and longer than the 3 Series long wheelbase version. The charging ports are placed at the front fenders and fitted with a new style of low-drag rims.
The interior seats are wrapped in Sensatec 2.0 synthetic leather, which is environmentally friendly, breathable and delicate to the touch, and the seat cushion is thicker than the 3 Series backrest. The new car is also equipped with a panoramic sunroof and electric sun blinds, automatic air conditioning in zone 3, and optionally a Harman/Kardon high-end sound system.
In terms of power, the BMW i3 has a maximum power of 210 kW, a peak torque of 400 Nm, and an acceleration time of 0-100 km/h of 6.2 seconds. The new car is equipped with a high-nickel ternary lithium battery pack with a power of 70 kWh, and the cruising range can reach 526 kilometers under the CLTC standard.
In the luxury pure electric sedan market, the BMW i3 will become an important competitor to the Tesla Model 3, and the two have many similarities in terms of performance, endurance and price. At present, BMW has only launched the eDrive 35L model of the i3, and it is still possible to launch the M version of the i3 in the future, in order to benchmark the high-performance version of tesla Model 3.
As BMW continues to promote full electrification, all of its main domestic models will launch electric models, in addition, new electric models are also coming out.
