On March 24, FAW Toyota's new model bZ4X was officially released in China, and the new car is positioned as a compact SUV, which is the first pure electric SUV under the Toyota e-TNGA architecture. Previously, bZ4X has been declared by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and it is expected to be officially put into production in June this year.
The domestic model basically follows the exterior design of the offshore model, and the new bZ4X is the product of the new electric platform, and the new car adopts a more recognizable shape. The front part adopts an integral closed design, with four light sources equipped inside the narrow LED headlights, which has a strong sense of sculpture. The two-color design of the engine cover and the front surround side is more innovative.
The front and rear fenders of the new bZ4X are also designed with contrasting colors, with 18-inch dual five-spoke two-spoke spokes and a tail slipback shape, which is more visually excellent. In terms of size, the new car measures 4690/1860/1650mm and has a wheelbase of 2850mm.
The taillight shape corresponds to the front of the car, and the design of the dual spoiler is matched with the through tail light, so the personality and advanced design style are in stark contrast to Toyota's fuel vehicle products.
In terms of interior, the new bZ4X has changed toyota's decent design, and the central control screen has become the mainstream of smart electric vehicles, simplifying some physical buttons. In terms of configuration, lane keeping, adaptive battery life, steering wheel and seat heating are provided.
In front of the driver, in addition to the traditional steering wheel, the high-end model will provide a special-shaped steering wheel equipped with steer-by-wire technology, which is very similar to Tesla's new Model S model. The instrument panel also features a floating design with a higher viewing angle, and the driver needs to observe the dashboard information through the top of the steering wheel, rather than the traditional model through the hollowing out of the middle of the steering wheel.
In terms of power, the new bZ4X declares two power forms of front drive and four-wheel drive, the maximum power of the front-drive single-motor version is 150kW, the front and rear dual motors of the four-wheel drive version are 80kW, and the acceleration time of 100 kilometers is 8.4 seconds and 7.7 seconds, respectively. The overseas version of the model is equipped with a ternary lithium battery of 71.4kWh, and the WLTP range is up to 500 kilometers.
Although Toyota motor has been in the field of new energy for a long time, the development of pure electric vehicles has not been rapid. From the perspective of product strength, although the new bZ4X has shown a certain level in terms of platform and design, in today's era of rapid development of intelligent electric vehicles, it is not easy for a century-old car company like Toyota to achieve "elephant turnaround".
Fortunately, Toyota has noticed the importance of pure electric vehicles in the current global market. Late last year, Toyota motor motor announced that it would invest $35 billion in the development of all-electric models, and plans to eventually turn its luxury brand Lexus into a pure electric brand.
