The latest sleep survey is out! Netizens shouted "It's me"

On the eve of World Sleep Day in 2022, the Chinese Sleep Research Association and other institutions jointly launched the "2022 Chinese National Healthy Sleep White Paper" (hereinafter referred to as the "White Paper"). The survey sampled citizens in 31 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities) and Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and recovered more than 11,000 questionnaires and 9,082 valid questionnaires.

More than 40% of young people stay up late until after midnight

According to the White Paper survey, 44% of young people aged 19-25 stay up late until midnight, and 42% of the elderly sleep for more than half an hour, with an insomnia rate of 21%.

Young adults aged 19-35 are the age group with a high incidence of sleep problems, and poor sleep has gradually become a common pain point for young people.

All ages generally sleep badly because of stress, with the highest in the 26-45 age group. For every two young adults who do not sleep well, there is one "pressure mountain".

The average sleep of high school students is 6.5 hours, and the sleep time of primary and secondary school students is still insufficient

According to the White Paper, the average high school student surveyed slept only 6.5 hours, junior high school students slept an average of 7.48 hours, and primary school students slept an average of 7.65 hours.

In March 2021, the Ministry of Education issued a "sleep order", and in July of the same year, a "double reduction" policy was introduced. After the sleep order + double reduction policy, 60% of primary and secondary school students have increased their sleep time to varying degrees, of which the sleep time increased by more than 2 hours to 9.41%; the increase of 1 to 2 hours reached 21.66%; and the increase of 0 to 1 hour reached 28.88%.

The "White Paper" shows that while the average sleep time of 60% of primary and secondary school students has increased, the proportion of sleep less than 8 hours is also increasing, indicating that the difference in sleep duration of primary and secondary school students is decreasing, but overall it is still insufficient.

The survey pointed out that the main reason for the reduction of adolescent sleep time is that after the reduction of learning pressure, many students allocate sleep time to electronic products and entertainment, and entertainment replaces learning pressure, which has also become the primary reason for teenagers to sleep late. More than 60% of the teenagers surveyed used sleep time to play mobile phones, play games and chase dramas. Only 27 percent of the adolescents surveyed squeezed sleep time to write homework and study.
