A few days ago, the "Tall Branches and Solid" Wu Changshuo Art Heritage Exhibition Spring Tasting Activity was held in Shanghai Trust Bund 111 Art Space. The exhibition brings together more than 80 paintings, calligraphy, seal engraving works and related documents of the four generations of Haipai Wumen in the past hundred years, comprehensively showing the national temperament and spirit of the times contained in Haipai calligraphy and painting.

As a leading figure in Haipai art, Wu Changshuo has extremely high attainments in the four major fields of "poetry, books, paintings and printing", and dominates the world with "four perfections of integration". This exhibition presents 21 fine works of calligraphy and paintings and 13 pieces of seal engraving seals and yantais of Wu Changshuo, whose works span more than 60 years of the master's artistic creation career. The exhibition also contains more than 20 precious documents such as Mr. Wu Changshuo's personal letters, poems, and ledgers, which comprehensively restore the real life state and artistic concept of the master.

In terms of painting, taking Wu Changshuo's "Wind and Bamboo Diagram", which was first publicly exhibited, as an example, he used the brushwork of the golden wrong knife to write bamboo leaves in thick ink and paint bamboo branches in light ink, perfectly showing the rigidity, flexibility, toughness and upward posture of bamboo in his hometown.

Seal Scrolls

In terms of calligraphy, the "Seal Scroll" in this exhibition, written at the age of 23, is considered to be the earliest Wu Changshuo calligraphy work discovered so far. In terms of seal engraving, this exhibition selects 12 seals of Wu Changshuo, including the common seals of masters such as "Miaoji", "Wu Junqing", "Miaolu Lord" and "Miaoweng".

"The tall branches are thick, and the mountain rain is falling. When bai yu tang, cui pan recommended golden fruit. This classic inscription poem by Wu Changshuo also reflects the inheritance and development of Wu men art over the past hundred years. This exhibition also concentrates 28 fine works of calligraphy and painting by the three generations of artistic heirs after Wu Changshuo, which not only reflects their artistic achievements in passing on their pen and ink and continuing to follow the martial arts, but also shows the new exploration, new development and new appearance of Haipai Wumen in the new era. At the scene of the Spring Festival tasting event, a painting painted by Wu Changshuo and Wu Yue, the fourth grandson of Wu Changshuo, and wu Chao's inscription was donated to the Shanghai Trust.

Shanghai Wu Changshuo Memorial Hall, Art Pudong (Shanghai) Art Co., Ltd. and Shanghai Pudong Culture media Co., Ltd. from Pudong participated in the event. The exhibition will run until February 25.
