Painting drama | Chen Banding: Love painting into the bones of noble monks

"Painting Drama" is the original Brand Culture column of Cultural Tourism China, which integrates calligraphy and painting with drama and opera, and appreciates paintings while listening to dramas, as Su Shi said in "Chibi Fu": The ear is the sound, the eye is colored, the forbidden, the use is inexhaustible, it is the endless treasure of the creator, and I am compatible with the Son.

Chen Banding (1876-1970), a native of Shaoxing, Zhejiang, was a painter. His parents died when he was young, and his family was poor, but he was diligent and studious, learning poetry and painting from Wu Changshuo, and was good at painting flowers, landscapes and figures.

Yue opera, also known as Shaoxing drama, is the music of Chen Banding's hometown. Since his parents died and his grandmother passed away, Chen Banding was raised by his grandmother. The tragic experience of childhood affected Chen Banding's life, and although he later left Zhejiang, Zhejiang is still a very important place in his life.

Mr. Chen Banding is a typical representative of the Beijing-Tianjin school of painting among the three major schools, and is a leading figure who brought the Hai school of painting into the Beijing painting world. He is highly accomplished in flower and bird paintings, and has left countless classic paintings in his lifetime. Representative works include "Moon Season", "Rose Flower", "Rich And Noble Shou Kao Tu Axis". He studied under Wu Changshuo for ten years and was deeply impressed by Wu's true biography, and his works are light and elegant, pay attention to artistic conception, have a clear rhythm of line rhythm, and emphasize the interaction of poetry, calligraphy and painting.

Because of its special love for the value and aesthetics of traditional Chinese flowers, his floral works are light and inky, beautiful and vivid, with light colors, dashing and wanton, making people look intoxicated. When the viewer carefully tastes the painting, he will involuntarily speculate about the mental activity of the author when painting, as if he is immersed in the scene.

As a master of the "Yungu School", Chen Banding spares no effort in studying ancient methods on the one hand, and on the other hand, he plays a personality and expresses himself. After the late Qing Dynasty, the Republic of China, and new China, Chen Banding is a veritable century old man, and his rich life experience and literati temperament have created his "noble" and "Shang" zhongzhong's way of treating people and Zhongzheng's elegant artistic style.

Our young people in the new era should learn from Mr. Chen Banding's spiritual character of "love calligraphy and painting into the bones, hunger is still ignored", devote ourselves to their own careers, and be a dedicated and diligent person.
