In 2021, Geely Automobile sold 1.328 million units in the whole year, successfully winning the annual sales championship of Chinese brand passenger cars for the fifth consecutive time since 2017, and the position of its own brand "One Brother" is very stable. But in fact, Geely was not at ease last year, with a sales performance of 1.328 million vehicles, only completing 86.7% of the 1.53 million units set by the company at the beginning of the year, and the growth rate of only 0.59% year-on-year in 2020, far lower than the 23.1% of Changan passenger cars and THE exaggerated 75.4% of BYD. In the face of such pressure, Geely naturally can not be tied to grab, so in 2022, they will launch a number of blockbuster new cars to stabilize the position of their own brand big brother. Let's dissect them one by one!
Cash Boyue
As Geely's highest-selling SUV to date, Boyue has sold more than 1.36 million units since its release in 2015. However, this car is after all a 7-year-old car, although it has undergone several small changes in the middle, but it is difficult to hide the decline in sales. You know, at its peak, Boyue's monthly sales can exceed 30,000 units, second only to the Haval H6. And today's Boyue, the monthly sales are only about half of the peak period, the old rival Haval H6 has completed the big replacement, the rising star Changan CS75 PLUS is also very strong, Geely Boyue wants to return to the peak, it is bound to be a big change in product power.
At present, there is not much news about the new generation of Boyue, only that the new car will no longer use the old NL platform, but will be upgraded to the CMA architecture. However, due to the positioning of the vehicle slightly lower than the Hoshigoshi L, the vehicle should not use a combination of the whole series of 2.0T in the power system, and the entry-level version is expected to be equipped with a 1.5T four-cylinder engine. This engine is not the 1.5T three-cylinder of the previous Drive-E series, but a 1.5T four-cylinder engine newly developed by Geely, code-named BHE15, which was previously declared by the new Geely ICON, with a maximum power of 181 horsepower.
In terms of design, the new generation of Boyue should learn from the design language of Xingyue L to a certain extent, so that some consumers with less abundant budgets can also enjoy the design and platform architecture of Geely brand high-end products. As for the price, the current Boyue price range is 9.18-14.28 million, and the new generation of models should also remain within this price point. After all, at the price of 140,000 upwards, there is a higher positioning of the star L to choose.
Speaking of Xingyue L, the geely brand's current flagship SUV can be described as a smooth sailing, after the official listing in July 2021, sales have been stable at more than 10,000 units per month, which is a very good result for a self-owned brand SUV with a minimum landing price of more than 150,000. In order to further enhance the competitiveness of The Star-Etsu L in the high-end market with the joint venture SUVs, the Star-Etsu L Hybrid Edition model will be officially launched in 2022. In terms of appearance, the Xingyue L hybrid version is not much different from the fuel version, but the central network has changed to a semi-closed design of the body with a new energy style, the logo can be illuminated, the front bracket shape has made some changes, and the wheel rim with low wind resistance modeling is used.
The focus of the vehicle is still on the power part, and the Star-Etsu L Hybrid Edition is equipped with Geely's newly developed "Thor" DHT Pro hybrid system, which consists of a newly developed 1.5T three-cylinder engine, twin motors, and a 3-speed transmission. Among them, the three-cylinder engine is a high thermal efficiency engine dedicated to hybrid, with a maximum power of 150 horsepower, a maximum torque of 225 N·m, and a theoretical maximum thermal efficiency of 43.32%. The dual motors use a parallel structure similar to the Honda i-MMD, one is a generator, which is connected to the engine to generate electricity for the battery and drive the motor, and the other is to drive the motor, which is responsible for driving the wheels. At the same time, the vehicle also has the function of direct engine drive.
The additional 3-speed transmission (red box pictured above) is directly connected to the drive shaft of the vehicle, whether the vehicle is in pure electric drive or direct engine drive, it can be shifted by this 3-speed transmission to maximize the energy consumption performance of the vehicle.
The hybrid system has a total of three operating modes, and at less than 20km/h, the vehicle will be driven by pure electric power and powered by a 1.8kWh battery pack. In the speed range of 20-80km/h, the vehicle can be in the form of engine power generation, motor drive, or direct engine drive, these two driving forms will be automatically controlled by the computer according to different loads, power requests, and also have learning functions, which can adjust the driving form according to the driver's habits. When driving at medium and high speeds above 80km/h, the 1.5T engine is used as the main power and the motor is assisted. Thanks to the presence of a 3-speed transmission, the vehicle's high-speed cruising power and fuel consumption can be guaranteed, compared to the Honda i-MMD in high-speed direct drive with lower fuel consumption, better power, and quieter noise.
According to the official data, the 0-100km/h acceleration of the Xingyue L hybrid version only takes 7.9 seconds, the comprehensive fuel consumption of 100 kilometers is 4.3L, and the endurance of a tank of fuel can reach 1300km. In terms of fuel consumption and power, the Hoshikoshi L hybrid version is better than the Honda CR-V hybrid version of 9 seconds to break 100, fuel consumption of 4.9L/100km better. At present, Xingyue L is already in the pre-sale stage, with a pre-sale price of 173,700 yuan, but the pre-sale model should be a medium and high-end version, and the hybrid low-end model is expected to control the price in the range of 150,000 and 60,000, compared with the CR-V, RAV4 and other hybrid models with a price of more than 200,000, the cost performance of the Star-Yue L is obviously more outstanding.
The current three-cylinder ICON
When it comes to icon, many people may not have seen it on the road. It is a compact SUV released by Geely in 2019, with a very sci-fi shape and a focus on the female user market. Icon is based on the Geely BMA architecture, and the latest model is priced at 9.98-13.2021 million yuan. Although ICON has gained a lot of attention by relying on its eye-catching design when it was released, sales have not been outstanding, with only 15,000 new cars sold in 2021 and an average of only about 1,200 units per month. The reason is because Geely ICON only provides 1.5T three-cylinder engines, although this Drive-E three-cylinder engine has good power and smooth running quality in the three-cylinder engine, but the market is still a "three-cylinder without talk" attitude.

Just recently, Geely declared a new ICON model, the shape of the vehicle design has not changed much, the biggest change is the replacement of a 1.5T four-cylinder engine code-named BHE15. This engine does not belong to the original Drive-E series engine, but a new product developed by Geely's "Aurora Bay Technology Co., Ltd.", with a maximum power of 181 horsepower and a maximum torque that is temporarily unknown. In fact, at present, Geely has a four-cylinder 1.4T engine, but that engine is a product born in 2015, and the technical level is now not competitive, such as the current mainstream in-cylinder direct injection, all-aluminum cylinder block, double cycle and other technologies are all gone, so the power and fuel consumption are a bit unable to keep up with the times. Therefore, Geely will develop this new 1.5T four-cylinder engine to meet the needs of Geely's new car in the new era. After replacing the new 1.5T four-cylinder engine, Geely ICON sales will definitely usher in a wave of rise, after all, the car is eye-catching enough, the pricing is also very close to the people, and it is still very attractive for young users who pursue personality.
The current model is colorful
Binyue is a small SUV launched by Geely in 2018, which is the same as icon and Lynk & Co 06 for the BMA architecture, priced at 75,800-11.98 million yuan. In terms of sales, Binyue and ICON can be described as a world apart, with cumulative sales of more than 140,000 units in 2021, which is currently the highest selling small SUV of its own brand. The reason is because it is low enough and the 1.4T engine is four-cylinder! However, as mentioned earlier, this 1.4T engine is actually very old, and the 141 horsepower and 235N·m are obviously not enough for a very sporty SUV. And the high-end model of the 177 horsepower 1.5T engine, is a very embarrassing three-cylinder design...
New Binyue
In order to make up for this shortcoming, Geely recently declared a mid-term change of Binyue, which will land on the market within the year. The new Binrui front face adopts an exaggerated large mouth design, and the rear of the car continues to use large tail wings and four exhaust styles. More importantly, the new Binyue is also equipped with the same 1.5T four-cylinder engine as ICON, with a maximum power of 181 horsepower, which makes up for the shortcomings of the current model's four-cylinder and horsepower can only choose one or the other. What's more, the new Binyue will no longer be ridiculed as "more exhaust pipes than cylinders"!
The current Binrui
In the same situation as Binyue, there is also Jili Binrui. This car is also a model launched by Geely in 2018, positioning as an entry-level compact sedan, priced in the range of 79,800-109,800 yuan, positioned between Emgrand and Emgrand L. Binrui is currently equipped with the same and slightly older 1.4T four-cylinder engine as Binyue, with a maximum power of 141 horsepower and a maximum torque of 235N·m, matching a 6-speed manual or CVT transmission.

As for the power part, the new Binrui is also equipped with a new 1.5T four-cylinder engine, with a maximum power of 181 horsepower, which is 40 horses higher than the current 1.4T!

Lynk & Co 01, which was listed in 2017, will also usher in the second major overhaul this year. In fact, in December 2020, Lynk & Co 01 launched a mid-term remodeled model, that is, the 2021 model currently on sale. During the first redesign, the front face of the vehicle was slightly adjusted to remove some of the dull feeling, while the interior was also optimized in design and configuration.
In addition, the 2021 Lynk & Co 01 has also been upgraded in terms of power. Originally, the vehicle had only a 190 hp, 300 N·m 2.0T low-power engine with a 6AT gearbox. After the 2021 model was redesigned, the low-end model was upgraded to 218 hp and 325N·m, and the high-end model was upgraded to 254 hp and 350N·m, and the Aisin 8AT transmission was upgraded.

Just recently, Lynk & Co declared the second major revision of 01, the front face of the new car has not changed much, but the tail has been changed to the shape of the through-type taillights, which is more in line with the current aesthetic trend. In the power section, the 2.0T model of the new Lynk & Co 01 is no longer available in a 218 hp version, but only retains a high-power model with 254 hp. In addition, the plug-in hybrid model based on the 1.5T three-cylinder engine originally used to meet the policy needs of some cities for new energy vehicles has also been retained.
Not only that, the new Lynk & Co 01 will also add a hybrid model, equipped with a hybrid system called E-Motive, which is actually the same Thor DHT Pro hybrid of Hoshigoku L. The gasoline engine is a 1.5T high thermal efficiency three-cylinder engine with a maximum power of 150 horsepower, and is equipped with dual motors, a 3-speed transmission, and a small battery pack that does not support external charging. In this way, the Lynk & Co 01 series will have 2.0T pure gasoline, 1.5T hybrid, 1.5T plug-in hybrid three power forms, coupled with the excellent texture and driving experience of Lynk & Co 01, the price competitiveness of about 200,000 is obviously stronger.

In addition to the Lynk & Co 01, the compact sedan Lynk & Co 03 will also usher in a mid-term redesign in 2022. The Lynk & Co 03 was officially launched in 2018, and because there was only a 1.5T three-cylinder engine in the early days, the sales of the vehicle were not outstanding, and it could only maintain the level of about 3,000 units per month. It wasn't until April 2019, when a new 190-horsepower 2.0T four-cylinder engine was added, that sales picked up, gradually rising to an average of 7,000 units per month. The later launch of high-performance 03+ and the recently launched 03+ Cyan customized version have also laid a solid position for this domestic sedan in the hearts of fans.
In 2022, Lynk & Co 03 is about to usher in a mid-term change, the current news about the new 03 is still little known, according to the previously exposed spy photos, the new 03 will still use the Lynk & Co family design, but the middle through the middle of the network has become narrower, the lower encirclement should also be adjusted. In addition, the daytime running lights located on both sides of the cover seem to have been replaced by a concave and convex three-dimensional design, and the sense of power after the two light strips are lit can be imagined.
As for the interior part, with reference to the previously exposed test car, the instrument of the new Lynk & Co 03 adopts a more concise LCD screen design, no longer embedded in the interior of the dashboard; the steering wheel also adopts a more stylish style, and the multi-functional control areas on both sides use a backlit touch design; the central control screen is larger, and the lower air conditioning panel also has a separate LCD screen display. Such an interior can't help but remind people of their big brother Lynk & Co 09, which is also a flat full LCD instrument, the same independent air conditioning LCD screen, and even the steering wheel shape is the same.
In terms of power, considering the general trend of "abandoning three from four" in various collectives, the entry-level model of the new Lynk & Co 03 should no longer use a 1.5T three-cylinder engine, but will be replaced with a new 1.5T four-cylinder engine mentioned many times, with a maximum power of 181 horsepower, and continue to match the 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission to ensure the sportiness of the vehicle. As for the current 190 hp 2.0T version, it is possible that it will be cancelled, because if the low-end model is equipped with a 1.5T four-cylinder engine, it will directly lead to a small difference between the two versions, and the horsepower difference is only 9 horses. As for the higher positioning of the 03+ and 03+ Cyan models, it is bound to continue to be retained.
Since the launch of the Extreme Kr 001 in April last year, the new Geely brand of electric vehicles has been in the talk of the market. Although there have been many storms during the period due to delayed delivery, configuration differences, electronic system failures and other issues, it is undeniable that this car still has a very good level in terms of quality, chassis, performance, and concept. With more than 3,500 units delivered in December last year and January this year, The Krypton 001 is finally on track.
After the first model of Extreme Kr can be delivered stably, they set their sights on the emerging MPV market in China. The power part, the extreme krypton MPV will naturally use electric form.
